NMC applications - new member with odd question.

  1. Hi all,
First of all I'm not a nurse - but I need help with a related issue and I've looked everywhere I can. Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by asking! I'm helping the wife (a qualified US nurse) of an employee with her NMC application here in the UK. It is not easy, and I'd like to find an agency to help. I've only managed to find one which offers this service, called "New Life Nursing Agency". I'd like to know if anyone has used them in the past? Are they genuine and trustworthy? Has anyone had bad experiences?
    Thank you!

Have you tried Adevia? I know they do UK to US & I think I saw that they do the other way around as well. Check out their website and see.

Have you actually tried to call the NMC? Their website is quite easy to navigate but if you're having trouble why not just go ahead & give them a ring?

Hello, thanks for that. I'm afraid it has been two strikes on both of those suggestions. Adevia now only accept people who already have their PIN cards (I could be wrong but I understand you get this after your application has been accepted?). The NMC themselves refuse to give out any information on agencies, or offer an opinion on the one place I'd found. But thanks anyway!

the problem I can see is the changes to the employment of non EU nurses, due to recent changes it is hard to find jobs plus NMC now has a requirement of 20 days protected learning at a recognised uni before a PIN will be issued. Does she have a work permit allowing her to work in the UK. Not sure if there are agencies that can help. Plus a lot of trusts are cutting back on agency nurses

    sorry not much help

Yes, of course, I'd forgotten about that! Nursing in the UK is not easy right now. I think you're going to find it quite hard just at the moment. Of course when they realise their dreadful mistake things will probably become easier. Sorry that you have drawn a blank I can assure you that nurses on the wards really wish they had more help!

    Hi,
    What is a uni?
Ive applied to the NMC and am waiting for all my documents to come through from Canada. My experience so far with the NMC has been fine.
    Thanks for all the info.

This link shows the new changes which are happening with Non EU foreign trained nurses and from this month the only route to registration is through the ONP course
