New USRN needs help :)

hey guys.... i just passed the NCLEX last june 18. My state is CALIFORNIA.. so i received the mail already.. i have a lot of questions. I hope you guys coulde help me coz im really clueless of what my next moved is..

first question: How do i apply for an US SS #?

coz without it i wont receive my license? right?

second: Since my file would be destroy within 3 years and i dont think i can be in the states within the next 3 years. Firstly because i dont have IELTS yet, ande secondly no experience at all (but i'll be working this august though) and thirdly because of the retrogression. What should i do? should i apply for a receiprocity to another state where there license can be renewed and no US ss# needed?

i hope u could give me some suggestion on what to do. I would really really appreaciate it. tnx

congrats,

thats the problem in california if you go to them for initial licensure. difinitely you wont have your license since you dont have the SSN yet. you can aply for SSN once you have work in the US already, working visa, thats the time you can get the ssn. as of the moment plus the retrogression add 5 more years for you. they will destroy it in 3 years.

Moved to the International forum as per the red banner.

You are not a US RN as you do not have a license. Much has already been said about Ca and SSN suggest a search. SSN you can not get until in the US with a valid work visa. Look for a thread called California for initial license

We do not have reciprocity between licenses in the US. And since you do not hold a license in the US, you are unable to use the endorsement procedure as well.

Please read the thread that was mentioned above.

You do not need to sit the exam again. Try searching for threads on California as there are many discussing this

at this point you CANT endorse your result from CA to new york since your considered PASSED since no license has been issued. you can only start it once you have your ssn and apply for endorsement. better take this time to look for experince.

I think at the moment I would wait with Ca until about 6 months or so is left with your application with Ca (not less than 6 months) if things haven't moved with retrogression then consider moving to another state. Ca may also consider extending your application after sending in a letter explaining things. This is what some members did last year and received a year extension.
