New and need some advice

by Codis

Hi, Everyone!!!
This is my 1st time using this site. I am a Professional Nurse here in South Africa. I'm working at Correctional Services. I'm really enjoying my work, but want to go overseas. I love every aspect of nursing. My problem with nursing overseas is that it is so difficult to get into another field, because I'm working in a prison environment. We work totally independent. A doctor only comes once a week. Once a nurse, always a nurse. I learn fast because I am inquisitive. Can you please advice me on this one.

Welcome

Moved your post to a thread on it's own. Do you have an idea on where you want to work?

Hi, Silverdragon
Thank you for the responding. Dublin sounds like a very nice place. America? Too fast for my taste. I like trauma and Psychiatry is my passion. I am currently busy with Nursing Education and I am also doing my Diploma in Primary Health Care at the University of Stellenbosch. Prison is also fine. I do have a lot to offer concerning rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders into the communities.

Kind regards.

You would have to apply to the Irish board of nursing but may have problems finding hospitals willing to assist with work permit as the EU requires they employ own citizen first then EU before the rest of the world, however may get exception if you are very experienced in an area of short supply. If Dublin is your choice I would suggest contacting some hospitals and see how the land lies before applying to the nursing board
