New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

Newbie here!

I've been reading on this thread for a while now... But till now I'm still confused.

:crying2::crying2::crying2:

All I know is that BP is quite expensive., I envy those who were already out in Oz to pursue their dreams. :D

Goodluck guys! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

I would like to thank everyone here for once again inspiring me to dream and try hard to live that dream. :nurse:

Godbless ALL! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe

Yes guys, its real !! I am new in NSW and my company new here ( I am from Manchester - UK, I moved last year)) but as far as I know with my experience for 15 years replacing Filipino nurses and care Assistant in UK, I think and my Filipino nurses will say I have done very good job.

Anyway I lived in Manila for few months .. and dealt for the last 15 years with hundreds of Filipinos, my manager in UK Filipino ..

for the fee yes you have to pay for the bridge course which is very high as far as I think, nurses paid very little when they done the adaptation course in UK, but here its !!

I have places with universities to do the course .. I just checking now, the placement after the 3 months!!

More than that I deal with very reputable company in Manila for the last 10 years, the director British ...

My dear we care and this is my reputation, I use to have office in Poland as well till I came to NSW.

My dear I will try my best to find the best offer for you .. this is me .. good luck

hmmm, my 37-year-old gut feel seems to believe your statement.. at any rate, thanks for considering Filipino nurses.. peace..

Hi Dear

We are a international recruitment company, yes we have solicitors to do the visa as well you need to do the bridging course to register as RN. you can contact our office in Manila or direct to our office NSW

[email protected]

filipino friends... "solicitors" here means "lawyers", not the "agents/collectors".... am i ryt Ms. Sherry? lawyers?

kuri,

i guess you understand that there a "lot of things going on" in AHPRA and Oz nursing nowadays, including your situation right now..

i dont know the SOP, that is, if you already have a BP school, then is it SOP to inform the nursing board.. i hope those who will undergo BP will answer this question for you..

Mercy's instruction to you is an example of the "lot of things goin on", thus, you have no choice but to follow their request to do so.. that is, get confirmation from nursing board of the "effectivity" of your existing eligibility letter..

with regards to your questions in the last paragraph, these issues were discussed in page 623.. me, sweet-toothRN and ceridwyn discussed this issue, read it for your own benefit.. about the "experience", this was also discussed in previous pages, and the conclusion is you can still be given an eligibility even if you have no experience because the BP will be counted as experience leading you to a nursing registration..

good luck..

Oh oh so what your saying is that I need to find a school that will except me if I have no experience? sent my applications to deakin and UB- AAON. I should have applied for WLI for the Sept. Intake:( huhuhu

thank you so much for answering my query:) God bless!

if you dont have exp., better apply/enrol in BP schools that accept applicants with limited or no exp.. the 3 schools you mentioned, i dont know their policies about experience rquirements.. better check things out..

if Mercy is trying to accept you then that's it, all they want initially is for you to re-confirm that your existing eligibility is still valid as per the present nursing board.. work things out..

good luck, wish you well...

hehehe ofkors ceridwyn, no question about it.. when i send my job applications, 1st question, if i have had experience outside phils.,. agencies i contacted, told me they need "experience outside phils.".. in QLD DOH, my application was automatically disregarded because my hospital experience was in phils. not in singapore,uk,canada.. but QLD DOH keeps on advertising for nursing job vacancies, but im automatically not qualified there.. too bad.. life goes on..:D needless to say, there are still organization who would consider "phil. experience", but these are a few organizations..

above is based on my actual experience and dealings.. i do hope that my opinion above is wrong, i hope i am wrong, because if i am wrong, then it will 100% benefit me and others too.. i wish im wrong..

I hope you will find one soon cioman. If its harder for you to find one what more for those who don't have any experience. I think getting a job in Australia is getting harder. Keep on applying. Maybe the rurals will be accommodating.

with due respect, just some unsolicited advices:

1) while you are analyzing your situation, to be or not to be, don't forget that time is ticking.. meaning, take every opportunity to obtain experience via local employment (which is a big joke nowadays), volunteer, or training programs.. whatever decisions you will make, wherever you wanna go, you really have to have experience, so dont let time pass by.. at one point in my nsg life, i volunteered in a NGO home for the aged, that's aged care experience, but more importantly you build good karma for yourself by serving the aged.. besides, that's what is written in the Bible so you're suppose to do that anyway..

2) the fact that you are analyzing your situation is a good thing.. research, think and plan well before making decisions..

3) as you think things over, dont forget the opportunities in New Zealand.. remember that the exchange rate is NZ$1.00 = P32.00 meaning BP expenses there would be cheaper.. also pls note, that Western Australia DOH BP is also cheaper, i guess it should be around 1,500 to 2,000... but the slots are very competitive..

good luck in your recollection, retreat, research, and i hope you will find enlightenment under an Ipil-ipil tree..

i dont recommend anymore looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel, kasi San Pedro might be there waiting... peace..

does anyone here know which application form are we supposed to download from AHPRA? Is it the General Overseas form (AGOS-04) ?

THE CV is really a nose bleed ! I wish I didn't declare I worked before !

Hi jakey! yes it's the AGOS-04. You can refer to the previous pages as to how to fill it up specifically javRNs reply to some of our query.:)

we also had a hard time doing our CV but we managed to finish it. just be guided by the standard format.:)

Good luck!

Anyone please? I am also interested to find out...Another question, I understand that BP providers require immunization to certain diseases, what if the applicant has HEPA.B or TB, will he or she be denied of the application to a BP provider? Does anyone have any idea on what the stand of the BP provider is regarding this?:uhoh3:
