You are not applying for NCLEX but licensure of RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of the process. If you have taken local boards and passed then you need to arrange for your local board to send confirmation that you have passed, if you have not taken local boards then you just send letter explaining you have not taken it. Same goes for nursing transcripts you do not send them as such it has to come from your school of nursing with their official stamp although you can arrange to actually send said documents but school of nursing must seal your transcripts in the envelope with stamp across to indicate no tampering.

However, my license wud not yet be available for a couple of months.. So how do i explain this in my NCLEX application??? or do i really have to wait till my license is available before i cud submit my application??

you can submit your application with a letter explaining that you have passed but not yet received your license they will probably put your file on hold until you receive your license. The other option is wait and then submit your application once you have your license

whaat? are you sure about this? u see I actually did this..would that mean additional 1 or so months on the 4-6 months waiting period, since there is no specific date yet as to when our license will be released?

oh no! very wrong move :o

The BON may very well wait for your license before they process your file, would have been different if you had not take local boards. The thing is with retrogression even if you are looking at a 4 month time frame it will make no difference as you may have problems finding employer for I140 as many are waiting for retrogression to be sorted and will take you over 2 years before you can move to the US (probably optimistic with time frame expect it to take longer) as many more are in front of you already in the queue for visas.

And again, there is no application for the NCLEX exam, that does not exist. CA is interested in seeing that you did pass your local exam, and can provide proof of passing it before they will issue you permission to sit for the NCLEX exam. Even CA does not issue a license without having a SSN#, but they can verify that you passed your exam. And that is what they wish from your PRC to do.

You will need to have the actual license number to get the VSC. But as Anna has mentioned, even if you get permission to sit for the NCLEX exam, and even pass it, it is no longer guaranteed that you will get a visa to work in the US. There are many more that are applying than there are visas available. And if you are one of the lucky ones, you are looking at two years after you have a petition submitted before you will be in the US. Submitting a petition does not guarantee that it will be approved either.

^ I passed the nle too. But like Mhai the application for license will not start till middle of oct, ( that's application and i dunno when the actual license will be available)But i asked for a certification and a break down of my actual test scores from PRC and i was able to get one. Will that do? Or i need the actual license card and number? thanks in advance

The verification must be sent directly by the PRC, it is not accepted if it comes from you. Same way that any nurse in the US wishes to work in another state in the US, they must have verification from where they were licensed, or thru Nursys.com. It is never accepted direct from the nurse.

Same thing as your transcripts. But this is already the end of September, the licenses are going to be issued within the next two months or so. There is also a retrogression in place, so no chance of a visa for the US for a couple of years. If asking me, I would just wait until all is complete, you will need it for the Visa Screen Certificate as well.

And please be aware, that taking and passing the NCLEX exam no longer guarantees you that you will be able to get a visa to live and work in the US, there are many more applicants than actual visas available. That is also the reason for the retrogression.

thanks for your honest reply..I am very well aware of retrogression (thanks to this forum), but I never thought that I will be affected since I am still in the initial stage of applying for US nursing licensure. :o Now I know...should have read more...:uhoh21:

Retrogression for you will not actually start until you have approval for your I140 but even that process is taking well over 6 months from filing, but like anything will have an impact on things before. What is the main impact for you is you took local boards therefore you need to supply a license before you will be given the OK to sit exam as you have to meet requirements.

Hi, I have just mailed the California BON my application together with my written explanation for not having a license yet, I also just passed the local board but the license is still in process.. Does this mean I have to request for a verification from the PRC to be sent to California BON? or should I just wait for my license then mail a copy to California? sorry for asking about that again but I already have my visa.. thank you very much..
