hi i just want to ask if anybody here with same situation as mine. I passed nclex california year 2006 and i was able to extend expiration of my file until 2010 ,but after that i did not do anything because i felt hopeless due to the long waiting of processing due to retrogression. My priority date is May 2007 . Any body could give me info if i have to retake again nclex exam or i need to re apply only? But i think nowadays California Board doesnt accept application without SSN?Please enlighten me.

There's a limit of 8 years since one passes the NCLEX-RN in CA that requires the re-take of the NCLEX, if the license has either lapsed or was declared inactive after the 8th year and then via submitting a new application to re-apply again.

Yes, the CA BRN requires a valid SS# that's work authorized, since April 2010. They also require a copy of the local country's nursing license that must be valid and current.

The SS# requirement is being used by more and more states that used to not need to see them on the application.

Exactly. You need to reapply as a new applicant if you took the NCLEX 8 or more years ago but never received a license/had an active license Now a valid license from country of education and valid-for-work US SSN required for applying to the CA BRN. (In addition to the enforcement of concurrent clinical & theory of nursing education including "cases")

If you were never licensed as a nurse in the US, all states have limits as to how long a NCLEX pass result is valid before it has to be repeated. (No valid, active license, no recent nursing work experience)

    As mentioned by others, Yes!

Once you pass the 8th year of the NCLEX exam, say June 2006, you need to complete ALL of the requirements before the end of the month of May 2014, otherwise, you'll have to re-take the NCLEX, meaning you need to submit all educational transcripts and other documentation as requested with a new application form and need to meet the current requirements as any brand new applicant.

The above is the references to the CA BRN re-take after the 8th year.
