NCLEX examination

by shangve

I have received an e-mail from:COMPED (COMPED@MAIL.NYSED.GOV) on November which said:
Your education was approved on 10/25/07. Any additional questions should be directed
to opunit4@mail.nysed.gov .
Please,

What should I do next? Should I register and pay for the NCLEX examination with Pearson VUE now? I have sent my RN Application Form to NY Nurse Board on July this year, I do not know if education being approved means I can register the NCLEX examination with Pearson VUE. I am a non-US nurse and non-US nurse education.

Yes, you meet the requirements from the BON for NY. They are going to forward your approval to Pearson-Vue and once they receive your payment, then you will be able to get your ATT and register for the NCLEX-RN exam.

Congratulations on getting thru all of the waiting.

Congratulations on getting thru all of the waiting.
But I have not received a letter from the New York State Education Department notifying me that my education has been approved and I are now eligible to sit for the examination.

I just received a e-mail said my education was approved on 10/25/07.
Am I eligible to sit for the examination now?
I am puzzled.

That letter or e-mail states that you meet the educational requirements to be able to sit for the NCLEX exam, you just need to pay the fee to Pearson-Vue and then wait for them to send you the ATT and you will be all set to schedule an exam date.

But in New York State Education Departmet website , it said:
If you are a non-U.S. nursing program graduate, you may only apply for the examination after receiving a letter from the New York State Education Department notifying you that your education has been approved and you are now eligible to sit for the examination.

I am puzzled too.

What you posted that you received in the e-mail is what you want to get, this is the board that approves your education. This iwhat you wanted to hear, and this is the agency in NY that approves your education and credentials and they approved you.

Trust me, you are just fine to go ahead and register with Pearson-Vue.

E-mails are always faster than letters as they do not have to rely on the mail system.

But I still did not get my eligible letter from NYBON. I am puzzled. My process has passed 12 month.

If you received an e-mail from them, go ahead and register with Pearson-Vue as I told you to do before. Pearson-Vue will issue the ATT as soon as they receive payment from you.

Not all letters get to where they are supposed to, especially when it is out of the country. Your e-mail from them is all that you needed to get before going ahead and paying for your exam.

Go ahead and do it now. You can spend the time to wait for an actual letter, but there is absolutely no reason to do that.
