First off, take the time to do some reading on this forum, in particular the stickies at the top, with most attention to the Primer.

There is no way that you apply directly for the NCLEX exam, you must have permission from a state Board of Nursing to do so. When you are given that permission it means that you meet all of the requirements for licensure there, except for the exam.

Florida requires that you obtain the CES from CGFNS, you can find out about it at www.cgfns.org and also the Visa Screen Certificate that you will need to obtain once you sit for and pass the NCLEX-RN exam.

Specifics as to the application for actual licensure can be found on the website for FL BON, but recommend that you do not start that until you get thru the CES and know for sure that your training will be accepted in the US.

You are looking at two years at the minimum when there are visas, there have not been any in almost a year, so expect it to take longer. There are those from the UK that post here that have been waiting three years or longer, so it is not something instant by any means.

To add to Suzanne best get CES done by CGFNS because if you are short of hours then you need to make them up before you will be given permission to sit the exam. If you check out the UK forum there is a sticky about a university which should be offering catch up courses as now some as recognising the demand is there for it. Also once you are getting to the stage for study as have a NCLEX forum which you can find in the student section.

It is a long process and sometimes frustrating but as long as you hang in there you can make it.
