name change on RN license

hi, i wanted to inquire about this.. my RN license got mailed to me today from CA.. it practically should've made me real glad, but when i took my license out, my name's missing one letter.. i applied for NCLEX and that was how they entered my name on to the testing center, since they said that only limited characters were allowed by their computers in Pearsonvue to type in the names, so it would appear like that but it wouldn't really affect my licensing, or my exams, coz i wrote my name right in all my applications, but why did this happen? When i sent the letter for the SSN# to the board, i also wrote my name right..

i know it was stated in the license to inform the board within 30 days for a name change, and i also checked the DCA website and it said there that for a name change, i need to fill up the form attached, and also to pay for $30 for another license card.. is this really the ONLY process? or is there any other way to make my name right? --since i had it right actually, and i don't really know why they printed it that way.. is it because they followed the Pearsonvue name? (they clearly told me it was JUST because of their computer's limited characters.) Please help me with your information.. Thank you!

Moved to the International forum

Have you contacted the BRN and discussed with them if it is their mistake then they should rectify it

hello there, we have the same dilemma after passing the nclex-rn exam. the main culprit for that problem is the pearson vue, as to whatever name written on your test result coming from them will be the one to appear on your license. all you have to do is to submit the documents proving your complete name to the BRN and the fee the soonest the possible. im glad my BRN did not charged me any fee in obtaining another license bearing my full name.

hi tobby walter, so what do you suggest i'd do, just send that form and the documents like my passport or SSN# card or whatever legal document, plus the fee?
are there any other documents needed attached like a cover letter or something? how come they didn't charge you? i really hope they won't too.. my parents aren't really happy about this, since it's not really our mistake to miss letters in our names due to Pearsonvue's computers you know... thanks for letting me know some people have this kinda trouble too.

the documents i sent to my brn are live birth certificate, the passing letter from brn, the result from pearson vue and your letter requesting them to send you a new license bearing your complete name and fee. on my case after they sent me a new license with my full name , they also changed the name on the nclex-rn candidate report.

We had a similiar problem with Pearson VUE trying to get ATT for NCLEX

It only allows 15 characters for a first name, and our BON name didn't match Pearson VUE.

We contacted our BON and they were able to work out name problem with Pearson VUE and didn't cost us any extra money.
