Michigan removes CGFNS qualifying exam

Michigan Governor Jennifer Ganholm has signed into law a bill which removes qualifying examinations conducted by the US Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) for nurses from the Philippines and other countries who wish to work in the state.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, quoting a report of Consul General Blesila Cabrera in Chicago, said the law allowed foreign nurses and nursing graduates to just pass the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) qualifying examinations.
