Hi Everybody!

I am going to get petitioned for a green card. Can somedody tell me if I need my medical exam in the first step.Meaning to file it with my visa screen etc....What is this exam about. Does it take a long time to get appointment and results?Where can I do it in NYC?

Thank you !

Not with visa screen, but with I-140, I-485. Or... i don't know what you mean...
It's yes, if you already have VSC and it's no, if by "first step" you mean applying for visa screen.
You will get physical, TB test, and HIV/syphilis check.
You can do it in most of the clinics, just call around. Most of them are walk ins, and are very fast about the results.

Since you are already in the US, and will be getting an AOS filed on your behalf, you should have the medical certificate included with the paperwork. It will save much time on your processing.

If your husband is also applying, then yes, he needs it.
Form I-693. But don't worry about it, the doctor will have the form.

You need to file the Medical Exam with the initial AOS (Adjustment of Status). The Visa Screen Certificate is not needed to be submitted with the initial documents, unless you have it in hand already.

Visa Screen Certificate and the Medical Exam are two very different things.
