Master in nursing do i have a chance getting eb2

Hi

I am a nurse in the UK with 6 years experience. I am just finishing my masters degree masters of medical science in advanced neonatal care. I have taken on further roles in my job and train staff and support. I am a qualified mentor and preceptor for student nurses and new staff.

I am already registered in the state of vermont and hold an active licence. I have a social security number but my father allowed my green card to expire when I was younger so I have to reapply and gain sponsorship. ( I have tried to renew green card but uscis will not allow me say I abandoned status ) .

I would like to know would I be able to get sponsorship for a eb2 with my masters degree? It's been my dream to return and if I would have known about these problem with green cards I would have tried to maintain my own status.

Most jobs requiring a Masters require a MSN or Masters in Science in Nursing from an accreditation either NLN or CCNE. So to get a nursing job with your masters it would be hard. Also there are plenty of MSN prepared nurses and not that many that require a MSN.

Perhaps your degree would be useful in research ?

I think main issue would be finding a job that meets EB2 requirements (not sure but may even meet EB1 requirements) and employer willing to sponsor you for a greencard

Thanks for your reply. The master is the same really has MSN just what the university are awarding I have done the same things that someone working toward an men have studied. I have looked at taking my CCRN but I have not looked into this in great detail but it does state that nursing hours need to be completed in America or equivalent. I don't know if my current job will count towards this, I am in the UK. I will need to contact the AACN in regards to this.

I really don't want to give up on my dream but I am fully aware of the economical problems and this will impact on my dream

The AACN is open to all qualified nurses and will not qualify as MSN. Check out areas you wish to apply, see if they have MSN required and if they require a degree from an accredited institution. Also no American or permanent resident is not applying which is not a reality. I would try to get a job in the UK which has an American branch.

I have read the UK is having hard times this is also true in the USA. But unlike the UK there is no safety net.

I have a full time job in the UK, it is just the life I had in America is a much better life style. I will look to see if my husband can get sponsorship he is a university lecturer so we may have a chance that way. I enjoy neonates and would prefer to stay working in this field. If not america I will eventually give up on my dream and try nursing somewhere else. We are approaching the baby boom retirement soon on the UK and maybe there will be a cap in the nursing market when this generation start to retire. I can always hope that is all I have at the moment. I am not going to give up a full time job in the uk just yet. I will maintain my registration over there for now. Thanks for your reply
