I got married 9th of march this year to the most wonderful woman to me She is working as a RN in Delhi ,India . She did her nursing degree in India and holds a BSN. after she gets her CR-1 visa will be moving to Chicago,IL which is where I reside. I am a US Citizen working in Chicago. I read she needs to apply for and pass CGFNS which is required before she can sit for the nclex.

Awhile she is waiting for the CR-1 visa can she take the CGFNS exam in India, I noticed there are centers there. Will registering now so she can take the exam there cause any problems once she moves to usa? Same thing for the nclex. Just want to get opinions on what's the best approach in this situation.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

She does not need to do e CGFNS exam. She needs to get a report done from either CGFNS CES report or other acceptable agency. Process can be started now and sit NCLEx once the BON says it is OK.

I would have get approved and sit for NCLEX while waiting on your interview.

Once she gets her visa and arrives in USA, I would wait about 2 weeks (let her rest) and get her on the job hunt for work.

Good Luck...

How about letting the woman adjust to culture shock? Two weeks and have her working? You live up to the stereotype of the sad guy who marries a nurse in order to live off her income!

What a asinine post

Takes 1 year for a CR1 Visa to get approved but they can work once they enter USA, many people don't realize that.

A K1 (Fiance Visa) has to sit around for a few months and Adjust Status.......

Grammar correction "an asinine post".

Every one is entitled to an opinion. I think it's pathetic you'd expect your wife to start working right away. I don't care what route she took to get into the US.
