LPN vs RN - $$ difference

  1. What is the starting pay for an RN in Canada - I know it depends on the hours you work, but I'm just asking what the average is??

Also, what is the pay difference between an RN & LPN? I would imagine it's signficant since RNs are in school for an additional 2-2.5 years! :spin:

In Vancouver I believe LPN's start off at around 18$/hr and end up at around 21$/hr.. RN's at the moment start at 26$/hr and end up around 33$/hr (regular staff RN pay..)

In about four years time after the new contract is fully implemented, RN's will start at 29$/hr and end at around 38$/hr.. not including shift premiums etc.

It must depend on where you are working. In Ontario I have seen RPNs starting at $23 +,top of the scale being $25+, and RNs at the top of their scale being around $36+.
