Licensure in vermont

Moved to the International forum. Many people have applied to Vermont with no intentions of working there. I actually took my RN application in New York but received a job in AZ. What you have to be aware of is regardless on state you apply for licensure to be a RN in the US (that is what you are doing not NCLEX Vermont) when endorsing (if you have a license to endorse with Ca and a few other states that require SSN you will not get a license) you will still have to meet that states requirement on foreign nurse trained. Also with retrogression and the high demand on visas you are looking at a few years before if lucky as no longer a guarantee on moving to the US so plenty of time to think about your options.

my BON is also vermont, and my job offer is AZ. it took nearly 4 months when they processed my application,i have to keep ringing them in the end.fortunately i did because all my papers are under my maiden name.while my license and current papers are under my married name. they created two files for me.

i am also a vermont nclex passer but my job offer is in california.... i took nclex 2 years ago and i got the result after 3 days and job offer after a week.. it only took me 1 week to endorse it to california... at that time it was very fast i just dont know now.....

You are not applying to write the NCLEX exam, there is no application for that. You will be applying for licensure as an RN.

What happened in the past does not mean that is what is happening now. There are many more applicants to Vermont than there were several years ago, you are looking at about four month wait plus.

I agree with Suzanne 100%. Although VT's website still says 3-4 mos.processing time, don't be surprised if it will slow considerably, esp. with the advent of New Mexico now requiring the CES for their req't for foreign educated RNs.

New Mexico has been the other favorite for a "walk-through" State for US RN licensure since it was relatively fast and previously did their own transcript evaluation. Processing time for NM ballooned from 2-3 mos. to up to 6-7 mos and many with incomplete files as well (usually no included fees). This was certainly one of the reasons, if not the main reason why they are re-requiring the CES again and added a clause that all applications must be complete from the beginning or they will send the whole package back.

That being said, VT is still a good choice for an initial licensure. Just don't expect it to be as fast as before. By the way, they may do their own evaluation but unlike CA BRN, VT require that you have a local license.
