License by endorsement

by abcd123

hi, everyone.

i am planning to apply for an RN license in Texas thru endorsement. I am a foreign graduate nurse and the TX BON representative stated that I have to verify the license that I had in my country even if it's inactive. i donwloaded a form from their website but that's pretty much it. I understand that it's my total responsibility to take care of it but I don't know where to begin. I checked the website of my country's Board of Nursing but there was no specific instruction on how to go about the process. BTW, I'm from the Philippines so any input per experience or ideas is very much appreciated. I can always go for the CGFNS way but they do charge a lot...almost $400.00. So i thot i'd exhaust some other options before I give in to them. thank you.

Moved to the International forum as issues as slightly different. Which state are you licensed with initially? Do you have CES as being foreign trained I am sure you need that

Default Re: License by endorsement
You can only use the License by Endorsement application if you already hold a license in another state in the US. You cannot endorse your license in the Philippines to the US. You must write the NCLEX-RN exam to be able to be licensed here.

And any license from another state in the US cannot be endorsed if it is not current.

All you need to do is to have the PRC verify that your license was in good standing until you let it lapse. You can use the license verification form that you will find with the application to submit to them and have them send it on to Texas. Please be aware that Texas does require that you go thru CGFNS to have the CES, credentials evaluation submitted. They will not give you permission to test if you have not done that.

Piggy Bank Re: License by endorsement
thanks, suzanne

i did take and pass the CGFNS, TSE & NCLEX (Montana). I am currently holding a MA license and has been working as an RN for almost 3 years now. my concern is how to let PRC verify my old license (already expired in 2005). i'm not sure if the form provided by the Texas BON would be sufficient. there's even no telling how much the fee is. i'm thinking of just sending the form anyway and enclosing a metered envelope that they can use to forward the filled-in form to TX BON. i'm a little bit frantic now because my family plan to move to texas early next year and i need to find a job fast. i see that you are very knowledgable in this area...do you have any other suggestion? thanks!

Thanks for clearing that up, you never mentioned that you have a license in another state; only mention was made of an expired PRC license.

They are concerned that you did not have any issues against you when you were practicing in the Philippines. The PRC can verify this for them. You let the license expire, as you were no longer working there. Not that it was taken away from you for something that they did.

Pay the fee that they want and they will complete the form. Same as what happens when nurses need information from a state where they let their license lapse. This happens all of the time, or you could pay the fee to renew your license at home if this worries you.

I would not be concerned with it.
