Just took the DEC boards, im planning ahead, what's the next step I should take?

Whatever the results of my local (Philippines) board is, I'm want to take the NCLEX early next year already. Is that a wise decision??

I have so many questions about NCLEX because honestly, I don't have any idea on what to do to take an NCLEX. Where should I apply? When is the exam? How much is the application fee? How many days will the exam be? Well, all I know is that I can take it in Korea. Please answer my queries like you're answering a dummies guide book for NCLEX 'cause I really need your help... Thanks a lot.

Where should I apply?
You decide where you want to work. Factors that could help you would be where you have relatives, you may choose the state where they reside. Another factor could be the weather.

When is the exam?
You should be eligible first to a state board of nursing before you can schedule your exam.

How much is the application fee?
The application fee varies depending on the state you are applying. I suggest you visit each states website to get an idea.

How many days will the exam be?
The exam have 265 items and you have 6 hours to finish it but the exam may stop anytime at 75 and up if it deems you pass or fail the exam.

to qualify to sit the NCLEX you hav to apply to a state BON they will evaluate and decide if you meet their requirements, they will then give the OK to sit the exam and then you register with pearsonvue who will email ATT and you can arrange to sit the exam in a centre of your choice. When sitting exam outside of the US there is an extra fee to pay ontop of paying NCLEX. With state BON you follow requirements for foreign trained nurse which may involve dealing with CGFNS, most states just require CES with CGFNS but there are a small group of BON's require the CGFNS exam so check first. Some BON's will not give you your license when you pass NCLEX without a SSN which you will not recieve until you are in the US and can prove that you are there legally. So any questions which as for SSN you leave blank. Which BON is up to you, depends on where you want to live but recommended not to apply for CA as they take a while to evaluate your transcripts and give ATT and they require SSN before they will issue you with license but will issue you with a letter.

Welcome to the site and take time to read as a lot of questions will probably have been asked and answered, there is a search button you can use

Also, just wait for the results of the exam and enjoy your holidays.
You have to disclose that you have taken the local boards and give a copy of the license if you pass or explain why you don;t have a license in the Phil. It is up to the boards what they will do then.

Thank you for all replies!
Now, I know what to do first, which is to choose my state first.
im thinking of new mexico but they requires a cgfns first and I cant take that right now.
Can you guys recommend a good state that does not requires a cgfns certificate and takes just 3-5 months of processing?
Thanks again...

Why can't you take CGFNS now? Most states require some involvement with CGFNS Not many states require CGFNS exam but I believe there are a lot who require CGFNS CES which is evaluation of your transcripts. At the moment retrogression is on and plenty of time to get everything done in an orderly manner. It still make a few months before you get your ATT (OK to sit exam)and in that time you can be dealing with CGFNS

Just wait first for the result of your board exam, then if you passed, that's the time you plan for things whether you want to have experience first or take and pass foreign exams.Doing all these sound easy but its a tough road to undertake, just remain your faith and stay positive.Anyways, best wishes for your plans.
