International RN

Hello everyone!!!
I'm Israeli RN, I passed the California NCLEX-RN exam and now i have to get SSN (Social Security Number).
I'm planning to go to SF.
Is anyone here have an experience in this area?
I'd like to get any advice how to find a job and how to make less mistakes on my way...

Hi and welcome to the site

You will not get a SSN until in the US with a valid working visa, much has already been written on that but if you do not have a working visa then you are looking at a couple of years waiting due to retrogression. Suggest you have a good read in this forum as much has also been written on retrogression

Noticed in your post that you state that you have a SSN#, but do you actually have a visa that will permit you to legally work in the US?

What type of visa will you be on? That needs to be known before we can make any other suggestions.

What type of experience do you actually have as well?

You have a long wait ahead of you. There is retrogression so suggest a good read on the forum regarding this. We also have a lot of threads on California/SSN and would again suggest using the search facility but definitely read the thread California for initial licensure. You are looking for a petitioner not sponsor for a visa and currently we are seeing less and less employers petitioning foreign nurses due to the long delay, saying this I would suggest you contact hospitals in the areas you want to work and see if they will petition you

Thanks a lot!
I have a time. I'm studying for the IELTS know and i believe that :
"You can achieve anything you want in life if you have the courage to dream it, the intelligence to make a realistic plan, and the will to see that plan through to the end."

Sorry, I misread your post and thought that it stated that you have a SSN#. Please take the time to do some reading here as the letter that you received from the BRN is only valid for three years and then your file goes poof.

You are looking for a petitioner for the green card, not sponsorship.

You need to be aware of the fact that hospital in the Bay Area have not been petitioning for sometime, and even more so with the retrogression that is in place. They are not willing to wait all of the years for the nurse to get thru the immigration process and also not knowing when they will get thru. You are going to find it essentially impossible to get petitioned for a hospital in San Francisco.

Please take the time to do some reading on this site, and best of luck to you.
