Hey there!

I am a male-nurse from Israel. I want to migrate to Australia.

The information that I am particularly interested in is registration and assessment of Israeli diploma. Is it possible to get registration without undergoing Bridging Program for overseas nurses if I have a Bachelor of Nursing and a 10 year experience in nursing, last 6 years I have been working in the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of one of the largest hospitals in Israel.

P.S. I am desperately seeking for nurses that recently have moved from Israel to Australia.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Hi and welcome to the site

I have moved this to the international forum as per the red banner, anything regarding foreign nurse registration and immigration to be placed here.

You need to apply to the state board of nursing and they will access your training, looking at your experience I doubt you will have to do a bridging program but the state will be the one that makes that determination.

Alexey,

if you resieved any information of immigrating to australia from the holyland please update me, for the same cause.

thanx

Tell me at which stage you are now?

Thae very first stage of checking my options.

All other nurses are required to successfully complete one of the following English Language Tests:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) — Academic Test

Nurses and midwives must achieve a score of 6.5 or more in Reading and Listening and a score of at least 7 in Writing and Speaking with an overall band score of 7 or more of the IELTS test. The test must have been undertaken not more than two years before lodging the application for assessment. Original copies of the results of the test should be forwarded to ANMC by the organisation that conducted the test. The results of the test must be forwarded to ANMC prior to completion of the assessment.

This is the very first that you have to do.

Then comes assessment/registration. You have to choose the state (or territory) where you want to live and work and send a set of documents (evidence of registation as a nurse, evidence of practice, etc.) to the Nursing Board (or Council) for assessment/registration.

Nursing Boards have their own registration requirements. Check those links: http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/n/nurse-registered-nurse-2323-11.htm#licensing.

The outcomes of the assessment can be different: 1) they assess the documents provided by you and find you eligible for registration. 2) they assess the documents and conclude that your knowledge and experience are not sufficient for work in the Australian hospital environment but you are eligible to undergo the competency/bridging program (around 3 months, the price for this program varies from state to state).

You should note that in Queensland one can take a so-called Challenge Test and on the basis of its results then receive a license.

As soon as you receive a license, you can apply for a visa (visa options: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/medical-practitioners/visa-options-nurses.htm).
