Immigrate to Canada: Do I need an agency?

Updated Mar 23, 2009 at 11:37 PM by nursemich

I want to migrate in Canada without an agency, their website is very user friendly and easy to understand. It includes a step by step information. But somehow I'm till confused how to migrate in Canada under the skilled migration? I have already contacted the College of Ontario for the application registration for my credential assessment. Now, I don't know what to do next. Will I accomplish forms for immigration or wait for the response of CNO assessment? Please help me

Your title is quite misleading!

Wait for response, if you are not qualified for some reason you won't find a job.

Agree you have a better chance on finding a employer once you meet college requirements and get permission to sit CRNE. Even going the skilled route you need a employer

I would suggest a good read here on the CIC website

They are correct, it is wise to wait for the assessment from Ontario (for nursing registration). Canada immigration is by point basis, you could check the website if you are qualified even without an employer. But I doubt it will do, because having an employer I think is an additional 10pts. Please confirm it yourself over their website

Don't even worry about the points system - it's pretty much a non-starter. You can apply on a temporary Work Permit initially (once you have a job offer) which can be converted via the Provincial Nominee program once you've worked 3 months. That's the quickest route. Otherwise you can apply for PR through the skilled worker program but that takes a while. Check out the link from SD.

As has already been said, you must get the OK from Ontario that you are qualified to sit CRNE &/or jump through whatever hoops they require for that. Then you're in a good position to contact hospital HR/recruitment departments direct.

You DO NOT need an agency.

One problem you may have is that some Provinces/hospitals are cutting back on IEN recruiting while the economic situation is like it is.
