Moving this to the International forum where there are a few threads already on Canada. Where about in Canada are you looking?

You do not need an agency to come over to Canada, can easily be done by you. There are a few members who did it without an agency RGN1 is one who has done it and took her approx 8 months from start to finish.

First you need to apply to the province you want to work in. The nursing board will make a decision regarding your training. They then will say whether you need to do any courses to make up anything. Some if not all provinces will give you a temp license enabling you to move to Canada and start working whilst studying to sit the CRNE (Canadian nursing exam)

Then look for a employer and many will have experience on foreign nurses. They have to provide you with a LMO which has to be included with your application which is only a couple of forms and sent to your local Canadian embassy with bank draft fees made out in Canadian dollars. They will then request you get a medical and once you have had it done and they review your file (may take a couple of months) they will then send you a letter which you show at port of entry and a temp work permit is issued. Few months after working if you wish you can then apply for permanent residency but will need something from employer offering permanent employment.

I have only been in Canada since end March 08 and love it. I am not working as we came over with my husband's job but I have applied and started the nursing board process

I am confused. You have mentioned one agency but with them taking you to Singapore to work as an RN, and then in another place you have mentioned Canada.

Not sure if you have written the NLE or not, and the other question would be which province as there are different requirements for each one.

Assessment is going to last much longer than two months. that is a definite. But these are things that you should have asked and verified before you signed a contract with them. They have nothing to do with any type of visa, this is done by the government as a start as well. Any information given to you should always be checked out and rechecked before signing a thing.

Other thing to be aware of, not sure how long that you have been in Singapore, but that also makes it harder for any agency to place you and that is all that this company will do. They do not own and hospitals or anything else like that, but will try to sell you to the highest bidder, where they will get the most money for you.

Not a good thing in my opinion, especially when you actually have no idea of any of the specific requirements or anything else.
