if you're working somewhere and get a new collegue from out of the country and you're to mentor that one, you put a lot of work and effort into it, besides your own work that you have to do, and if that new collegue then is leaving after a short time, because a visa came thru, you won't be pleased very much. If that happens a second time, the chances are good that a mentor is lost and the moral as well.
It's not all about employee and employer it's more involved in that. It's hard work, in some areas whole communities are involved, they look for accomodation, orientation, making contacts, running errands, it's a whole proccess.
So people should at least be honest about their intention.

You may be in the United States, but I find it hard to believe that you are from the United States. Clearly, English is a second language for you. People from the US would not make this type of error in syntax:

So, again, please stop insulting other countries with your comments. It casts a bad light on other Filipinos who may not share your negative attitude.
As I said before: if you can't stand the host, don't go to the party.

Lightbulb Re: I am from... to help...
Hi! Its been awhile since i haven't open my threads and i am surprised to see a lot of reply... thanks!
cool down guys...
I as a Filipino, think that because we were colonized by the American and it being a First World country, is always the first choice when thinking about immigrating or working in another country... as our relatives are mostly living here also...
But the thing is what is our goals? If given a chance immigrating to another country, those that I listed above is really the option since I know they are good places to live at, I do not choose it as a stepping stone. Of course what u want in your life is to improve yours and your family, as my ultimate goal is not only to help mine but others as well... So if i am to stay in our country, it will be quite sometime and a very long time until i'll be able to help others, unless i win the lotto or have a successful business which requires a lot of time, of course the lotto is just being struck by a lightning twice in the same spot... So to immigrate or work in those countries is what i want to discover from you guys, how did you do it...
The thread is entitled "I am from... to help..." is because it is pointing to you the all nurses people, not me wanting this information alone, but for us the readers.
It is encouraging YOU to share...

Thanks

Can ITZALLGOOD explain how much nursing education and experience is under their belt? It's always good to know something about an individual with strong opinions.

I live in "that small dot on the map". We happen to be a huge, ethnically diverse nations with a wealth of natural resources.

The OP did not specify a desire to migrate to the US but it was aimed at the world (or so most of the posters believed). The forum is ALLNURSES not ALLUSNURSES.

I hope that you will read this. It sounds to me that people on this site are being nasty to you.I dont think they are understanding your communication style. I apologize FOR THEM NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE LIKE THIS AS WOMEN WE SHOULD BE UPLIFTING TO ONE ANOTHER AND ENCOURAGING.I HAVE LIVED IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN BY BIRTH AND ALSO A CANADIAN CITIZEN. I CAN SAY AS A CHILD I WAS BRAIN WASHED INTO THINKING THE U.S.A. WAS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.WELL, IT IS NOT THE TRUTH. THE GOVERNMENT WANTS PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THIS. THE PERSON THAT TOLD YOU THAT ITS THE BEST COUNTRY PROBABLY HAS NOT LIVED IN OTHER COUNTRIES FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. I HAVE.I,M NOT YOUNG IM MUCH OLDER.YES, IN THE U.S.A. YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES THEN MANY OTHER COUNTRIES.IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY CANADA WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE. THE EDUCATION STANDARDS ARE MUCH HIGHER.( YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE GOOD EDUCATION) I NERVER ONCE LOCKED MY DOORS WHILE LIVING IN CANADA.EVERYTHING THERE IS VERY CLEAN. THE COUNTRY IS CULTURE DIVERSE.I COULD GO ON AND ON. THE U.S.A. IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.ALOT OF CRIME.ITS ON T.V. ALL THE TIME BECAUSE THATS WHAT SELLS...PEOPLE ARE IMMUNED TO THE CRIME. YOUR CHILDREN CANT WALK HOME ALONE AFTER DARK ITS NOT SAFE.ALOT OF PARTS ARE DIRTY AND VERY POOR.YOU SHOULD SEE HOW THEY TREAT THE POOR ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE IN CANADA. THEY LIVE BETTER THEN SOME PEOPLE WHO WORK.TRULY YOU NEED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK IF YOU RESEARCH THE SUBJECT. THE STANDARD OF LIVING IN CANADA IS NOW LEADING AND EXCEEDED THAT OF THE U.S.A. JUST DO YOUR RESEARCH. I LOVE MY COUNTRY (U.S.A.)AND I,M AMERICAN BORN..BUT THERE IS MUCH THAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. WHEN OUT IN PUBLIC MOST PEOPLE I SPEAK TO WHILE IN THEIR COUNTRY WILL TELL HOW THEY HATE THE U.S.A. ITS NOT THE PEOPLE THEY DONT LIKE ITS THE GOVERNMENT THAT GETS INTO OTHER COUNTRIES BUSINESS.LETS FACE IT THERES MANY COUNTRIES THAT NEED HELP,BUT THE U.S.A. HELPS THE COUNTRIES THAT THEY HAVE A PERSONAL INTEREST IN.I TRULY THINK THAT THE U.S.A. HAS LET THEIR GUARD DOWN WITH THEIR ATTITUDES.THE FAMILY VALUES HAVE LOST THEIR PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY.PEOPLE HAVE LOST THAT SENSE OF RESPECT FOR THERESELVES.THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU WHERE YOU LIVE. I CAN SAY MOST PEOPLE ARE LOYAL TO THE COUNTRY THEY COME FROM AND THE U.S.A. WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY HEART.IF YOU WANT TO COME TO CANADA IT WILL BE TOUGHER TO GET YOUR LICENCE, AS A NURSE. THE STANDARDS ARE VERY HIGH. I,M DOING IT RIGHT NOW JUST TO HAVE IT ( BEEN IN NURSING 25 YEARS).I WILL BEING WORKING IN THE U.S.A WHILE WAITING BECAUSE IT TAKES TO LONG IN CANADA.MOST HOSPITALS PAY FOR EVERYTHING IN THE U.S.A.....BUT THE ECONOMY IS REALLY BAD SO IT MAY BE DIFFERENT NOW. MY HUSBAND WAS GONNA WORK IN U.S.A. BUT HE MAKES ABOUT 12.00 AN HOUR MORE FOR HIS TRADE THEN IN THE U.S.A. AND HAS MORE BENEFITS. WE ARE IN ALBERTA IT,S RICH WITH OIL....I MUST SAY ITS MANS COUNTRY UP HERE. NOT MANY JOBS FOR WOMEN. WELL GOOD LUCK.THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION AND EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW....NOTHING SAID IS MEAN TO INSULT ANY COUNTRY HERE..I BELEIVE EVERY COUNTRY HAS GOOD AND BAD POINTS. DO YOUR HOME WORK. IF YOU WANT TO COME THE U.S.A. WILL BE EASIER AS A NURSE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ,I BELEIVE YOU WILL DO WELL AFTER MAKING AN INFORMED DECISION.

I don't think anybody was nasty to the OP, in between this thread got sidetracked due to some offending posts.

Encouraging, yes, but also be realistic. There was "wondering" about the original question, which I think is very reasonable because of the very different areas she was interested in. That is to say at least unusual, and there are numerous threads allready answering many questions, and everybody is encouraged to read and search first for answers.
