Hi. I am a 2nd yr nursing student here in he Philippines but on December, I will have to go to USA. I am planning to study there, but I have many questions on my mind. If I will study there, do I have to repeat high school in US? Or i will just have to apply a nursing degree in any colleges there and what are the pros and cons of studying there?

What if i already took the other subjects here in phils like anatomy, psych do i still need to take it again? Is it really hard to enter nursing schools in USA? I feel a bit discouraged now. Hahahaha

Yes, it may be hard to enter into a US nursing school program, but here's what even worse for most graduating from the Phils (and for many other international locations): click here to read a very good article on why it's not a good idea to get your BSN outside of the USA:

After you read the opening thread, read of the others commenting thereafter.

Then, ask yourself to read over these forums of how many from the Phils of recent grads or recent NCLEX-RN passers have obtained a hospital nursing job (if that's your desired wish) over the past 2 years in CA (if that's also your desired state to work and practice in).

You will need to at first satisfy the school prerequisite classes and get all A's. Then apply at a community college or university nursing program. Your nursing classes from the Philippines do not apply. They are gone unfortunately. I'm not sure of the prereqs like Anatomy etc. It probably depends on the school. But as the saying goes, you need to be marketable to their eyes and those who took their prereqs here are probably more marketable than those who took it overseas.

As been said it is extremely competitive to get into a nursing program. You need to ace your classes because you will be up against local students who probably aced their classes too. Most importantly, be patient and try to do the nursing degree here in the US
