I'll sit for the exam once I'm in Canada.

It is difficult to predict how long before you can get to Canada because visa applications (and the specific processes within them) take to be processed as they are dependent on individual cases.

On my application status from the CRNBC website:
Review of Application Your application was reviewed on... September 18, 2008. Your application and documentation... not complete. You are missing...
  1. Employment Reference
I've never been employed and I wrote N.A. on for most of what was on Form 16. On the last page of form 16 under Other Professional Nursing Experience, I included 3 training programs which I had attended. I also wrote that I was a Trainee. Any suggestions?

This means that they have already assessed your crendentials and most likely if you're from the Philippines, you will be eligble for temporary registration. However, please bear in mind that it is very difficult to have an emplyer petition you if you don't have at least 2-3 years hospital experience. Without that, you will not be able to work in BC unless you complete some course with Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Wait for the assessment letter a few days from now and good luck.

it is not necessary to have at least 2-3 years of work experience in order to work in BC. Some BC employers accept applicants with at least 1 year or even less in order for you to get hired.

CRNBC told me that they don't need my experience in order to be eligible with CRNBC as long you didn't graduated 5 years ago. Employment reference refers to Canadian employment reference. The one you must comply the 250 hours supervised practice to get the full license.

As long you are made eligible to take CRNE and for temporary registration, all is well and that's the time you can now look for an employer.

Good luck!

yes, you can be made eligible with crnbc to take CRNE without or limited experience as long you did not graduated 5 yrs ago. BUT, it depends now on the employer whether to hire you or not.

for more info, visit www.crnbc.ca

You can apply for registration even without a hospital experience as long as you did not graduate 5 years ago. With this you will also be eligible for temporary supervised registration if a Candian employer will sponsor you. However, you have to fulfill the requirements of the registration, e.g. working at least 250 hours for a candian employer and passing the CRNE examination within 2 years time.

Most BC employers would petition nurses who have at least 2-3 years hospital work experience. This is the biggest hurdle in the registration process with BC. Without at least 250 hours of work with a Candian employer, everything would be uselss and will expire in 2 years time.

Good luck.
