Im an Englsih nurses who moved to Australia (whille I wait to go to the US), I dont know if its the same coming from Phils, but for me it was simple. No nursing exam of any sort, (you may need to do an English exam). You could check out the Australian offical imigration web site for more info.

I recon if you phoned a hospital in Australia they would also be helpful as they are always looking for nurses.

I did use an agency (BBT) but i still had to fill out my own visa application and pay the fees. (Compared to going to the US a lot cheeper).

You could always phone an agency for advice you dont have to sign with them.

I would recomend you look at getting perminant residency before coming especially if you have dependants as you get realy good family benifits and free health care, but not if your on a temp visa. (Wish my agent had told me that at the start). An agent wants to get you here quickly, so they recomend the temp visa. You can get the state you want to move too, to sponser you for a perminant visa, as I said check the imigration web page.

To convert your temp visa into a perm one I had to either sign for another year to my hospital or apply on my own and leave the country to come back into the country to activate my perm visa, costs a lot to fly out of Australia internationaly if you have family to take they all have to leave as well to get their visas.

lIf you have a spouce who wants to work here they will get more help looking for work if you have perminant residency.

Visas are much quicker than waiting for the US, it took three months for my temp visa, it took six months for another English nurses perm visa. This was two years ago. Not sure of waiting times now or if the country you come from makes a difference??

Australia is great, good people, good ethnic melting pot, great beaches and shopping, good weather.

Not so good; cost of living going up up up; strong OZ dollar so you dont get much for your money coming into the country; high interest rates; houses realy going up in price so is rent, and lots of people need to rent so when a rental is available lots of people go for it. (One good thing about an agency they will act as a reference for you to get a rental). You will need a fair bit of money for your deposit!

Hope this of some help, good luck in your plans. :D

Usually if from the Philippines and no nursing experience in an accepted country then you have to do a bridging program
