Hi Im new here

Hi just found this site today, looks great. I am a U.K registered nurse and registered Midwife, have just got all my paperwork into the Texas Nursing Board( whata hassle) I did the U.K modular R.G.N training -qualified in 1987 . (I did Midwifery training after that then did a bsc Midwifery though i am not getting any of that validated yet)
I am hoping I wont have long to wait to sit my Nclex does any one have any idea. It just has taken soooooooooo long to get this far. Although most of my experience is in Midwifery in the u.k it looks like i will have to stick to nursing here. I would to hear from nurses or midwives from the u.k now living in the USA with their stories. Noone understands here!

Welcome to Allnurses.com...........................

Now to your other qeustions. Texas does require a credentials eval done by CGFNS, called the CES, not sure if you also submitted for that.

In the US, the midwifery field requires a MSN degree at the vey least, and then Advanced Practice Certification called the CNM, Certified Nurse Midwife.
--------------
And Texas usually takes several months before they will issue approval, and that is after they have received the CEs, they will not do one thing without it.

Please read the Primer that is at the top of this forum and it will provide more information for you.

Thanks for your replys , yes i have submitted the ces thing or equivalent i think it is called ERES.
I had already contacted the UK Board of nursing and they sent the info to the texas board, however the ERES aswell as checking out my first level qualification module by module also get the info from the uk nursing board so its all duplicated all over again.
Anywat ive done everything and i just need to wait to hear about the nclex i think!

I will also check the uk threads too thanks for that
