Help needed!! Confused!!

by tanyaUK

Hi,

I am a UK nurse looking to migrate to Oz next year. I will have been qualified 4 years when we eventually come over.

I can't decide between NSW and Victoria, I would like to know what the take home wages are in each state on a full time basis, as this will be the deciding factor.

Also I cannot work out if I have to apply to both the ANMC and the state, or just the state. I will be coming out on a skilled permenant resident visa, with my family.

Please, please help, I am so confused.

Tanya

We are hoping to go in August/September 2009. I have been told that I need to apply to both the ANMC & the board of Victoria for permenant visa purposes. I have found it all very confusing but I think I'm getting there!!

You have to apply both ANMC and the NBV for permanent residency visa. And it will takes 9mos-12mons it depends if you have all the requirements needed.I heard that NBV had a backlog with their application process so it will take longer.
We are migrating on wednesday the 20th of FEB. Our permanent visa come through last Jan 08. and we applied Oct 2006 so it takes longer than we thought especially they change the requirements of migration. I guess it will depends if you have all the requirements that they needed.

Hope this will helps!

continuation of my reply, I think you better of applying for sponsored visa by the employer/agency because there is no hassle, you can take your family with you and it will only takes 6-8 weeks, then when you are in OZ after a yr or two you can apply for permanent visa. Its cheaper and no hassle. Your husband can apply for a job as well with your visa.

Goodluck to you whatever your decision it maybe!

Your salary will depend on how much experience you have, any relevant post-graduate qualifications, and the shifts/days you work.

The NSW nurses are about to start salary negotiations, for an agreement that will last to 2012; the Victorian nurses' agreement has just been signed and will be due for renegotiation in 2011. In Victoria a divisio 1 registered nurse with four years experience earns an hourly rate of $25.0105/hr or $950.40/week before penalties.

I'd be wary of looking at salary alone to determine where you're going to live, because living costs and conditions are different in each state. A higher hourly rate may not buy as much, or you may find that pay is less important than affordability of housing close to work, a specialty you're interested in etc, working conditions etc.

There are a number of threads in this area on the advantages and disadvantages of each state, often with friendly but pointed rebutals from members who live in various states. Start with: http://allnurses.com/forums/f123/few...ia-231085.html, http://allnurses.com/forums/f123/rat...oz-144518.html, and http://allnurses.com/forums/f123/nee...lia-99329.html
Hope that helps.

Immigration and licensure questions for any country are now being placed in the International Forum only. We are saving the sub-forums for specific questions about issues with working in that country only.

Many that are working in other countries are not aware of the requirements of working there as a foreign nurse.
