HELP - How to waive IELTS for ILLINOIS BON

Hi guys,

I'm from Philippines and i would want to know how can you waive your application to the Illinois BON that i took IELTS? Is there any steps that i need to do?

My cousin took the IELTS last december knowing the required English exam is TOEFL-iBT. What can she do? Does she need to take TOEFL?

I hope you can answer my questions. Some things are not clear to me. Thanks!

They do not waive the requirement for the English if you took the IELTS exam, as that is not accepted by them for the language requirement. However, you can get the requirement waived if your program was taught in English 100%, then they will exempt you from their TOEFL requirement.

When your transcripts are submitted, they are aware of which programs from there that are completely in English. If you meet that requirement, then you are okay.

Hi thank you for your reply.

I would like to know how will I know the english standards of IL BON? Once i get to pass my TOR to CES (which then will be passed to CTS)? Because i'm planning to take IELTS but I'm scared that IL BON might reject my scores because i failed to meet their english requirement/standard. Any situation did happen?

Mides, TOEFL is the required english proficiency in IL. Take TOEFL instead of IELTS. If happen that you fail to get the desired rating (TOEFL), you can take the exam again (another payment for sure) until you meet the desired rating. Check the Illinois BON website for more details (http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/WHO/nurs.asp).

If you did your training in a program that was 100% in English, then the TOEFL requirement is waived for you.

If you do not feel that you can pass the basic TOEFL exam, then you may wish to focus on that if your skills are not where they should be.

The IELTS exam is better for you to take in terms of the speaking section that is required for US immigration purposes.

Hi!

Thank you for your advise. Since i'm not sure with the IELTS exam and I would not want to take risk (even though some would say it's easy), i'd rather take TOEFL since its required by IL BON (according to the website). Again, much thanks for your help!

They are two different things. Illinois only has a requirement of the TOEFL exam, basic only, and that is waived if you attended a school that was taught 100% in English in your country.

And you will find that the IELTS series is much easier to pass as you have the speaking section with a human and not a machine as you do with the TOEFL iBT.

Suggest that you do more reading before you sign up for any language exam. US immigration requires that you have a passing score on the entire series of English exams which include reading, writing, and speaking.

Hi!

Once again, thank you for your reply. If i'm going to take IELTS, is there any expiration? Same goes with TOEFL? If ever they are expired, is it renewable? Or do I have to take the exam again. Thanks again! God bless!

both have an expiry date and am sure for CGFNS it is 2 years but you need to check their website and do some searching of your own

All English exams that are required for visas for the US have a two year limit on expiration. If you do not have the Visa Screen Certificate in that time issued, then you will be retaking your English exams.

This is well documented all over and is not anything new.

And again, if you trained in a school that was in English 100%, then you do not need language exam for the Illlinois, but you will need to complete the series for immigration for the US government.

It is your choice as to which exam that you want to take, we have all recommended the IELTS for you. You make the decision.
