Green Card Question

Hi,
My name is Diana. I graduated from a nursing program in US and passed the N-CLEX and I am now working on my masters. I really want to work as a nurse, that is my passion. I wanted to know are they still doing green cards for nurses? I graduate with a Masters in Healthcare Administration in August and I will have a year of OPT, i want to use this to work as a nurse. I work at a hospital now, as an internship and i love it, and I want to use the OPT to work for them full time. Can they start processing my paperwork for green card, and while in process can i still work? Does anyone know more about the Nurses Relief Act of 2009?

Thank you very much,

Diana Busjra, RN

Default Re: Green Card Question
A lot will depend under which category you file GC under and your country of birth. If EB3 then you will be affected by retrogression and can not AOS and stay once your OPT is complete. (generally as a new grad you come under EB3) Working on OPT has to be under the category you filed for it so if not as a nurse then I seriously doubt you can work as a nurse on OPT. OPT is supposed to be Optional Practical Training and for you to gain practical training to complement your field of studies
