Lawrence,

Why do you say that it wouldn't be wise to apply for application for licensure/endorsement to vermont early on? My NCLEX results for California will expire in 2011 and I have no SSN so I too have been shopping around for states to transfer my score to. I read about ARizona's new requirement for accepting RN licensure applications from US citizens only and am afraid other states will eventually follow suit....therefore, as early as now I am planning to secure my license ASAP. Also, I found an employer in another state and so I need a license in order to endorse to that state. That's why I was planning to send in my application to vermont as early as this month -- a little over 2 years from the expiration date set by California.

I didn't think there was a problem with doing that, until I read your post. Why wouldn't it be prudent? Care to explain please. Thank you.
If your employer is going to be in another state then you may as well apply for licensure and move your NCLEX results across. Lawrence's post in my opinion is aimed more towards the members who go through Ca because that is where they want to work. When applying to another state you will still have to meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse

I see. In that case I'll be sending in my application for VT this week. Thanks as always, Silverdragon!

Bettyboop all the information is on the VT webpage. As a nurse in the US you need to learn to look up information. Use this process as an orientation on the US way of nursing and navigating the system.

As long as you meet requirements you can have as many state licenses as you need and maintain them active.
