General Nursing and Midwifery Diploma is valid in US?

Hi All,

I am confuse about what kind of course/degree/diploma someone has to do from India who wish to become a Registered Nurse in US later on? My friend is about to start GNM(Diploma in general nursing and midwifery) from her place in India. I suggested her to do BSc in Nursing. She told me that In her town they don't offer BSc to people who don't have science background.
Is GNM will be equivalent to BSC in Nursing? If not so what she has to do next? She says that University people says that she will be a registered nurse or staff nurse in india once she completed this diploma. Buy my concern is that is this diploma will be valid in US? Pls help me with this. She is about to start the course soon.
