I was poking around the BNE (Board of Nurse Examiners) site and found this:

ftp://www.bne.state.tx.us/faq-exam.pdf

Foreign educated applicants will have four (4) years from the date that their application fee is received by the Board (to take the exam). To qualify to take the exam, however, the foreign applicant must have a minimum of two (2) years work experience as a professional registered nurse at anytime after completion of a nursing program.

I would take this to mean that you have to be a RN in your country and work there for 2 yrs before you can take the test and practice in the US.

Just a "heads up" in case anyone was wanting to move to the US without the 2 yrs under their belt.
