Since you are in the USA I would suspect your English skills will improve. Also may communities have English as a Second Language Programs. Watch TV and speak English as much as possible.

Also to work, your husband has to have a visa that allows you to work. I would check that out before you invest in taking the NCLEX.

As mentioned the first step is making sure that you can also work in the US. Then you need to go to the state nursing board (links can be found at the bottom of the page) and see what their requirements are for Foreign trained nurse. Remember you are not applying for NCLEX but to be a nurse in the US NCLEX is just a part of that process

According to the NJ web site

http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/nur...rnurse_app.pdf

There are five (5) elements that are now required for licensure of a foreign graduate as a nurse in New Jersey including:
1. A transcript review performed by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools
(C.G.F.N.S.) (You are required to have the Full Education Course by Course Report.);

2. Proof that the applicant has achieved a passing score on the Test of English as a Foreign
Language exam, TOEFL (C.G.F.N.S. is also providing English language evaluations) (Must be
submitted only to C.G.F.N.S.);

3. A completed licensure application for graduates of any foreign nursing program, which
includes information concerning the applicant’s educational and experiential background;

4. Criminal History Background Check clearance; and

5. Passing the appropriate NCLEX licensing examination.

You do not have to take a CGFNS test but they CGFNS has to review your education to see if it meets New Jersey standards.

They will tell you if you have any items that you have to make up.
