Foreign BSN in America

Updated Oct 12, 2008 at 08:55 AM by Extracareful

I am a U.S. citizen with an active Massachusetts RN license who is interested in doin my RN-BSN completion in another country. My question is: How will it be recieved here in the U.S. or will it make no difference at all as far as job hunting and continuing education as I would love to go for my master's in the future.

This is the second time you have posted this question, and I replied above. I have been working in the Boston, MA market for over 30 years. An international BSN is accepted unconditionally if the program is endorsed by NLN or CCNE. Most Boston hospitals require a BSN.

Also most MSN require that you have graduated from a NLN approved or CCNE program, but if you are concerned about a particular MSN program contact the admissions program. Also if you go to the Mass forum you can see a thread regarding UMass online program which seems to be popular.

To get tuition reimbursement, you have to be a permanent employee with a tuition reimbursement program, most are between $1000 to $2000 a year.

With all the options available for RN-BSN in America why go to an international program? If you attend a US based program you can take a school loan which helps to lessen the financial blow.
