any study tips or suggestions from Filipino nurses who have taken the NLE More than once?

I guess some of the Filipino nurses are not gonna tell they took the nle more than once.hehe!!

lol, its just a matter of shame if we do... It's like showing their pride and doesn't want to hurt themselves by claiming that they do took the exams twice, thrice etc..

NLE isnt just about how good you are in memorizing, not even a talent of guessing.. but I consider it as "pure luck" on what is coming out on the exams...

We cannot know everything right, The chances are:

1) You answered questions (from NLE) that you already read (about 10-30%)

2) These are just pure instincts to answer. (entire coverage of NLE)

It also depends on the decision of the nursing board which of the choices were correct.

(This depends on their deliberation/explanation of their answers - they got their own rationales)

It's a bit difficult to choose whether the answer should be in "ideal" or "practical setting"

Some questions just came out of the open (never been discussed, never been heard - but really related to the course), It depends on how you analyze it.

About your partner, I guess what you can really do is try to comfort her. It isnt the end of the world unless you quit.. am I right?

What she needs is a little more patience, in reviewing, and taking the board, and support (psychological, spiritual, social)

I have this classmate of mine who passed his quizzes everytime because of copying to my other classmates.Not participating in case studies,always depending on his gf in doing school projects and yet he passed the NLE.Unlike my gf(who is way smarter and studious than me) studied like theres no tomorrow,always get good grades,etc struggles to pass the NLE.I told her that she might be having a test anxiety or something.I hope and I pray that she'll pass the june 09 board.

It is really pure luck ^_^ that is what I can tell.. It doesnt really matter if you're smart or not.. and I've learned my lesson.. haha! Good thing I got it in one shot.. but didn't really expected to have axes on my NLE scores.. haha! ^_^

I'm sorry, but I disagree with what you're saying. I don't believe it's pure luck. You might be correct in saying that the board comes up with their own rationales, but they're still based on theory. Doing well in quizzes doesn't guarantee that a person has the necessary analytical skills that being a nurse requires. In my opinion, that's why some people who are supposedly considered the smartest in their class, still fail in the NLE. Being bookish doesn't count for everything. You have to be able to apply what you have learned.

Think about it. Why do students in some schools continually get a good passing rate while others don't? You can't claim that it's just because they're lucky. That would be plain wrong. I didn't go to one of those prestigious schools, but I know what I know because of pure hard work. I don't agree that my passing the NLE is based on just luck.

I would probably consider going back to school if I failed for the 4th time. If not, after getting a copy of her scores, concentrate on those subjects that she didn't do well at. Surely, she didn't fail all parts in all those four takes.

NLE has a 25% certainty of competency (4 choices - 1 correct answer)

Passing it on some luck could be a possibility, but I doubt if one could guess all the correct answers that requires him|her to pass. I think one needs 60% of what the top notcher had. Upper 40% of those who sat for the exam usually made it. Just my 2 cents.

Unlike NLE, Nclex is an adaptive test and has a 95% certainty of competency before one pass it (most of the time). If one could pass NLE on pure luck I doubt if he|she could pass Nclex.

Don't get me wrong, but if she failed NLE for the 4th time, I think she should consider going back to school or changing her career path. We must admit that nursing is not for everybody, just like other profession.

I took the NLE twice, as in the whole exam. The first time I took it, I can say it was part luck that I passed. Then I took it again a year after, and I passed with a far better rating. And based on my experience, I think self-confidence is very important. It boosts one's chances in getting a better rating. And since I was confident, my anxiety was lessened and I was able to think clearly during the exam. In that state of mind, it was easier for me to remember what I have reviewed and learned in school. But then, what helped me attain that confidence? It's HARDWORK and PRAYERS. Having time for relaxation had been helpful for me as well. Good luck and God bless to your gf. :)

Her mom told her to just take educ course but I told my gf to keep reviewing and passed her NLE rather than going back to zero by enrolling in educ course..I even told her my experience in the NCLEX exam,that I didnt quit,I changed my study habits.something like that.hehe!! I just hope and pray that she'll pass.
