Which first VISA Screen or Endorsement?

Good day to all! Hope everyone's doing fine.

Anyway, I have this sort of dilemma. I passed my NCLEX-RN examination for California November last year and took the IELTS just this May (got a TBS of 7.5 and no grade lower than 6.5 for all the categories). But since there's this retrogression going on, I don't know what procedure is best to do first. I am also planning to endorse my NCLEX-RN result to another State which would not require an SSN for me to have my license.. Which is best to do first endorsement or VISA Screening? Is it true that VISA Screen has a validity of 5 years? If I would be able to process my VISA Screen in 2 years (uhm before my IELTS exam expires), do I still need to take the IELTS exam again?

Sorry if I asked a lot.. Thank you in advance for those who would reply. It's so nice to have a forum like this for nurses. Keep it up! Godbless us all!

visa screen is for immigration purposes and they are requiring it at your interview in US embassy if your about to leave the country for employment to america. however, with the retrogression still going on it is wise not apply for that since it is only valid for 5 years. and after it 5 years your going to renew it which would mean you need to retake the ielts, since your ielts score should be current at the moment you file for renewal of it. since you passed the ielts already, its up to you if your going to apply for it or maybe later on.

now concerning with the nclex, there is nothing you can endorse since you dont have an actual usrn license pending of your SSN. so that means if your planning to apply to other state, you must meet a new set of requirements different from California bon. you have still 3 years to think on what you should do with nclex-rn exam result before the bon abolish it.

congrats for passing both the exam. all you need to do now is earn an hospital experience and an employer willing to petition you.

Thank you Walter! Now, I understood why I need visa screen.. But about my plan of endorsing my NCLEX-RN result to another state specifically in Vermont, I have read in one site (I think it's Immigration Solution) that in this state it just requires the official NCLEX exam results which I need to request to Ca BON. Did I get the right information? Or are there any changes with the rules?

Thank you so much! I was already thinking of asking a lawyer with all these inquiries.. Good thing we have concerned Nurses here.. It saved my savings.. just kidding! thank you! Wish us all the best! God bless!

Hi fragiledoll. to be on the safe side, much better if you will have your application verified and reviewed by VT. This way, there is a chance that they will issue you a license. At least, you don't have to worry of the "expiration of your CA pass letter" because you already hold a license. Hope this helps :-)

Hi Margaux! Thank you for your reply. I think you're right. I will try your suggestion. I hope VT could approve my application. I am frightened by the idea that I have to repeat the NCLEX-RN examination after 3 years (it's like I had a traumatic experience when I took it).

If anyone had tried other ways to prevent their Ca NCLEX-RN result to expire kindly share them, please. Thank you! Godbless!

The only other way is to ask the BRN for an extension but no guarantee they will do it and for how long

Hi Silverdragon!

I just have an inquiry.. Hope it's ok..If I would apply for VISA Screen first, can I use that Certificate to another State in the US? Despite that the document, particularly the NCLEX RN exam result that I will be submitting there, will be coming from the Ca BON?

Thank you in advance! :-)

Doesn't matter which state you use the certificate is valid for 5 years and just means that you meet US immigration requirements i.e. skilled worker, passed IELTS or other English exam and have meet state requirements to be a US nurse

Hi fragiledoll05. I'm actually undergoing the same predicament as yours. I was able to discuss this concern with a lawyer in the US and she advised me to either have my application reviewed by VT or NJ. I chose I run through the procedures in VT and decided to go with them. However, I also emailed VT BON and was informed that they will be changing their policies which will be applicable by July 1. Provided that your application is postmarked before July 1, your application will follow the current policy. Otherwise, you need to review and inquire with them re the new policies. I'm almost complete with my application and will be mailing it on Monday. Good luck to us! Anyway, just in case you have other queries, let me know. Hope this little info helped you in any way. :-)

Thanks Margaux! Wow, good luck to your application to VT. Wish you the best. Keep us updated on what happend, okay. So sad, VT would be changing their policies soon.. And oh my.. I haven't started any procedure yet.. :yldhdbng:I hope they would still not require an SSN by the time I would submit mine... With what Silverdragon posted here I've decided to do the Visa Screening first. How bout you, Margaux, are you finished with the Visa Screen already? Or you process your application by examination to VT first?

I hope I'm not too much.. But what are the other States wherein I could endorse or send my NCLEX-RN notification to without me requiring an SSN? Thank you so much for your patience to me. Godbless you all!
