I also have talked with an agency, and they said that I will be shelling out atleast 200,000 pesos for all the paperwork and ofcourse as payment for their assistance. I want to do this also on my own if possible, to save money. I hope someone can help me and PM me some tips. Thanks.

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
i just want to clarify if i got the infos right from my agency.
After passing the IELTS exam, they will be processing our appilcation for abou 3-6 months. We will be granted a student visa and will be required to undergo a 2-month training. AFter that, we will be granted a working visa.
Is this right? I mean, is this possible?

I e-mailed them and got a reply the day after. It is best to e-mail the only authority in nursing in NZ before asking somebody else.

Please don't bother them with questions unless you have looked at their file section and still can't find an answer. They have this cool word file for NURSES, look it up, it's really helpful.
Lastly, 4 out of 5 people I know have been advicing against agencies. They say the process is tedious but you can do it by yourself. Save your money for the continuing education the council will be requiring you.
Good luck to us!!
ei, thanks for this.
I just have a few questions, anyone please help...
Is any hospital experience needed first before undergoing the competence assessment? If I'll do it the processing myself, can you give me a ballpark figure of how much it will cost me? what about the housing, will we also personally look for a place to stay there? Is CG also required? Thanks....

Please remember that after the study around 6 weeks you have to look for a Permanent Nursing Job Contract before your student visa expires in just 3 months.Pls be inform that 95% of the govt. hospitals does not accept nurses without hosp. experience & most nurses that will be represented by some Filipino Agents now in NZ ,unless otherwise you got a good hosp.experience.Nursing homes are the one that will accept you even you dont have a hosp. experience but be smart and knowledgble with the interview. It has been a big issue here nurses that has been victimized financially and with doubtful contract from most filipino agents here.PLS.PLS.Filipino Nurses dont be lured by the sweet words of Agents that will represent YOU here in NZ.The competency assessment course fee cost like 4000NZD.Bording house weekly rent cost 100-150NZD BedSpacing.Food and other expenses cost you 2000 plus before you can land a job.NZ is a very high cost of living country.Pls you dont have to have an agent to enroll yourself to any sch. here.Everything that you need to know coming to NZ for nurses, you can find this in the Nursing council of NZ website. In any sch that you intend to be enrolled they will help you from your arrival & your residence to stay, they will welcome you and guide you every step of the way.YOU DONT NEED AN AGENT To COME TO NEW ZEALAND.Nurses with hosp. experiece has the potencial to be easily accepted in any hosp. if you are not represented by an agent.Instead paying those agancies in the phil.save your money into your journey coming over. Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
You need to have an employer permanent contract before the immigration will give you a working visa.Make sure that you have to have a complete medical, cxr, mrsa, blood test before you come to NZ.its very expensive here to do that and it is a must from the school to have that requirement before you can start your competency.Cheers.

You can find a job easily in the hosp. if you have a hosp experience, and its easier to apply in the nsg homes if you dont have a hosp experience.Hosp has a bigger salary and with better benefits for the nurses.

Hi AngelNZ. What is the minimum hospital experience required? If a nurse doesn't a have the minimum required hospital experience but have worked in other disciplines (i.e., school nurse, company nurse, clinical instructors, private nurse, etc.) will it be easy for him/her to find a job in a hospital in NZ? What are the advantages & disadvantages of working in a nursing home as opposed to working in a hospital? Can a nurse work in a hospital after acquiring nursing home experience in NZ?
Please forgive me for asking too many questions. Thanks in advance.
