hello all, RN here from baguio city. i applied for NCNZ last year actually, around october, the same time when there were a LOT of policy changes regarding nursing application. until now i haven't received my acceptance letter yet from the council, however throughout all this time i have been in contact with the council. they informed me of the modifications of the application process and told me to send extra documents. FINALLY, last week, ALL the documents needed by the council have been sent and right now they emailed me that my documents are being assessed. hopefully in 1 or 2 weeks time i'll get that coveted acceptance letter.

therein lies my dilemma hehe, does anyone know any hospital or health care facility that can SPONSOR the CAP? if it is at all possible, they will also shoulder the accomodations as well as the airfare. (i wanna try outside of auckland, DUNEDIN perhaps, south island, wanna try OTAGO POLYTECHNIC)please give info on possible sponsorships!! thank you so much to whoever will reply to my queries!

HI retsimnaeb! have we met before?

anyway, yes, i am under that. i was trying to avoid mentioning their company name as not to be accused as an agency promoter. AGAIN, i am not here to promote that agency. she has contacts yes but of course they are by the book at NCNZ. as i mentioned in my previous post, i applied during the time when the council made a lot of changes with the policy. the council and i were confused on what documents i would need to pass coz i was like in the transition phase for the new policies. the council and i were touch and go for a few months and FINALLY they got ALL the documents needed (in the end, i had to follow the new policies as well)

as soon as i get the acceptance letter, they (agency) will help me get a CAP sponsorship BUT, that entails more payment on my behalf. the people on this thread who are saying not to take advantage of an agency are correct. upon further research in my part and numerous memberships to various NZ filipino groups i was able to get info on how to apply to NCNZ on my own. now, i already paid the agency for my NCNZ application. i have to pay them again for CAP and everything. i want to avoid paying hence in am asking if anyone out there has more info about CAP sponsorhsips.

I guess you are not a happy customer , all along I thought with the supposed "contacts" of your agency it will expidite the whole process, but hey they were not able to do anything(as you said) -- its probably more of a gimik to entice more customers to use their services . Too bad.. Anyway goodluck with your search for a CAP sponsor. : dance:

over all, i am ok with the agency, but with info i gathered online and from what people are telling me, i can avoid paying them more money if i'll do some of the leg work myself hehe. perhaps nga its a gimik or something, but still, i think they helped me though just a little hehe.

thanks for the concern retsimnaeb, hope to see u there soon! and good luck to you too!

Nurse Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
After reading all the posts in this thread, I've come to conclusion that agencies exist because there are some people who actually don't listen to other's bad experience, and advice.

Any agency is a company, a business. Any business lives when there's money. Now, there are some greedy agency which will rip you off. On the other hand, there also some agency for business that do not take away more than enough from the nurses. But, still they get money from you on top of what you will spend when you do it all by yourself simply because they are in business.

I've been telling here for a long time that ANYONE can come here (plus all the paperworks) by themselves alone. Browse the nursing council website, phone them if you like more infos, do the queue in DFA and embassy of NZ for paperworks signing, applying for the visitors visa or student visa when the acceptance letter comes in, etc.

I'm tired in this thread. People don't listen. People, I think don't read from the very beginning of this thread as there are lots of repetitive questions for repetitive answers. I have saved one nurse already and bravely did all the application (schools and hospitals) and came here all by herself. That's enough for me. I cannot help you if you don't help yourself.

Good luck to you all.

What the agency said about "contacts" and it will expedite the process is a baloney! You cannot expedite the process here in NZ! Everything is according to some guidelines and procedures. There is no such as "friends" or "malakas" here!

Please be reminded that any hospital or facility who are willing to sponsor your the CAP and accommodation (for the period of time you are taking your CAP) will sign you for a minimum of 2 year contract. Now, this is fair enough but be sure you are not going to receive a rate lower than NZ$23-24/hr. TAKE NOTE OF THIS!!! MAy it be a nursing home or tertiary hospitals, the rate should not be lower than this. If they give you higher, well and good.

For your information: agency gets a huge amount of money from hospitals or nursing homes that want to employ you (some call it "finders' fee"). And if you shoulder your own CAP and signed for a 1-2 year contract lower than $24, then my dear, you were in deep @$$%$%^! You know what I mean, so get out of it. Because, as a matter of fact, that money the agency (of course you don't know this as NO agency will disclose this to you) got from the hospital is actually for your CAP! Yes! Bwahahaha!!! And you don't know this, ei? another bwahahaha!!!

That is why, if you do everything on your own, find a sponsor and they want you for 2 years contract, that's fair enough! Or if you cannot find a sponsor, pay your own CAP and apply directly to any hospitals or nursing homes or legitimate bureau agency in NZ. The money you are willing to pay your recruitment/consultancy agency is the money you can actually use by your own to do your stuff.

Good luck! Unless you're idiot!
