Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
Hello Everyone and Happy New Year,
. I believed that the documents you submitted to the NCNZ are very important. Also if your school of nursing presents your course outline/syllabus thoroughly - description of every subjects, dates, hours completed, and location of training/practice, then it would make a big difference. Visit their website and look at the Scope of Practice for Registered Nurse and the Section 12. All the best. Thread edited to conform with the TOS of this site. Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please.. BEWARE!!! Do not go to any agency in the Philippines or any agency from NZ coming to the Philippines and will promise you any or represent/use the name of MIddlemore Hospital as their leading hospital to recruit nurses!
As you all know, representatives from Counties of Manukau DHB (CMDHB), NZ went to the Philippines a couple of months ago and interviewed several pinoy nurses. IT IS A DIRECT RECRUITMENT PROCESS!!! So, don't be fooled! &*^^%$%!!! The only tie up CMDHB has is with POEA, check this, http://www.gmanews.tv/story/50991/NZ...ruit-RP-nurses. Filipino nurses here in NZ have learned that some agencies are using the name of CMDHB, particularly Middlemore hospital to lure naive nurses in the Philippines. We are going to bloody stop these crocodiles BUT WE CANNOT DO THIS IF YOU EASILY GOT SWAYED WITH THEIR PROMISES!
Remember, the nursing council is very strict now! Immigration is very strict now as well as new prime minister and people are in the authority.
Again, I've been telling this ever since... YOU DO NOT NEED AGENCIES TO COME IN NEW ZEALAND! You are a bloody idiot if you fall as a prey when you are already warned beforehand! | | No. 192 |

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
Hi! Good day! Im also interested to work as nurse in nz however i got some difficulties on my way. id like to ask any advice on my case. im working as a nurse for almost 4 years now. passed nclex and ielts with band score of 7 in all categories which will expire on may 2009. went to an agency for nz july 2008 with so much promises but they just wasted my time and money because they just kept my papers inside their cabinet. i withdrew my application and went to another agency this jan 2009 desperately because i fear that my ielts would soon expire. they told me i will need about 300,000 pesos for this application, this new agency assisted me in my ncnz registration, i paid 15,000 pesos for initial payment, then 15,500 pesos for ncnz registration fee. later, my agent ask me if id like to work as healthcare assistant in nz while waiting for the result of my papers from the nursing council. He told me i will leave philippines with working visa as healthcare assistant.once i recieve the result fron ncnz ill take the competency course then shift as registered nurse. He told me then that the placement fee for working visa as healthcare assistant is 340,000. i feel uncomfortable with that and as i surf the net i discovered that i can go there in nz even without an agency. but i felt i needed the help of an agency because i thought it will take me longer if i go on my own considering that im losing time, for my ielts is near expiry. i dont have the luxury of time to look for a principal, a hospital that could sponsor me, worse i dont know where to start. then i asked my agent regarding the details of the 300,000 pesos. i asked if the plane ticket, the course fee, accommodation etc is already included. His answer is that 300,000 pesos is just for the placement fee. ive read some blogs and discovered other applicants just paid 180,000? this agency is legal, i checked their status in poea. now my job offer for healthcare assistant is coming very soon and he asked me if he should hold my application? He told me theres a penalty if i back out too late. now i dont know what to do. please anyone i need advice... thank you.

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
please be advised that the NZ embassy in Manila does not issue student visa to HCA student anymore. I have a friend whose student visa was denied. SOme of my classmates who went to NZ to study HCA/caregiving course about a year or two years ago, are now ready to go back to the Philippines since their work visa/permit as caregiver were not renewed by NZ immigration. They were told that the Essential Skills Policy is in effect, caregiving jobs should be given first to NZealanders, that is why their visas were not renewed.
They were promised the same thing by their agency, the problem is some of them were denied by the ncnz, since they are 2nd coursers. And some of them took the IELTS in Nz and failed several times. Up to now they were not able to get the approval of the nursing council so they ended up working as caregivers for two years. Now they are going home na because they can not renew their work visa.
I would not pay an agency 300k of my hard earned money just to look for work as a caregiver in NZ. Instead I will use that money for RN registration in NZ. IMHO. just my two cents
goodluck

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
to narsmeow:
why waste your 300k to be able to work in NZ as HCA (caregiver) while waiting for your ncnz approval. Why not just wait for your approval? do not worry about your IELTS expiring. As long as the NCNZ received your application and IELTS results before it expires they will still consider it. you paid 15k twice for your NCNZ application? geez it only cost 485 nzd.
Shame on your agency, I hope other Pinoys will read this post , so that they will not be victimised.

Hi!
A job offer doesnt mean that NZ embassy will grant you a visa.
I lodged my application for work visa and got denied last FEB 11, 2009.
And am still trying to recover from the disappointment.
Reason was.. there are enough locals to fill the post..
Priority is for locals .. not overseas applicants..
and I think 300k is way toooo much just to get an employment abroad
which doesnt even guarantee financial security..
just learned my lesson the hard way..
Im just sharing this so you dont fall prey to those who take
advantage of clueless desperate nurses... Originally Posted by narsmeow Hi! Good day!
