Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
Just a tip: You can always try for Australia if you think you can't apply for NZ. At least they don't require you to have experience and those with experience especially 2 years and above have the chance to be registered without going through the Assessment program or the Bridging program. And honestly you don't need an agency to help you get to those countries.

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please.. I am not inviting or promoting that you to have to have my firend's style in applying for your job and live in New Zealand...I am just telling you that YOU do NOT need to have an agency in the Philippines. She does not need to have many many concerns for these too. She has another job and is stable. She is just trying to be of help.
And you don't need to spend this 300,000 to 400,000 pesos just to have a job in New Zealand. But frankly speaking..even if you look into the said websites, mentioned, you need to have someone still to follow up your papers there in NZ school, pay for the ttuition fee and once you are there, who fetches you at the airport? Will the school provide a place to live? Will they tour you around and make you familiarize with the place?
Oh well...it is a matter of choice............... | | No. 153 |

1. you can follow up your papers/application with NZ Cap providers. They are just an email away.
2. you can pay your CAP fee via ANZ bank in Makati or thru your bank if you have a dolloar account.
3. you can ask your CAP provider to arrange for a shuttle bus/ pick up service for you. All you have to do is pay 80nzd approximately
4. you can ask your CAP provider to arrange for your accomodation in NZ. via hostel or homestay. (just pay a minimal booking fee)
5. Some schools will provide a tour of the campus and the surrounding areas so that you could familiarize yourself.
you are right. its a matter of choice | | No. 154 |

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
I am a second courser. my letter of denial was dated June 3, 2008. I appealed my case. Luckily, the Nursing Council of New Zealand reconsidered my application. I think even if you are a second courser, if you will be able to convince the council that you really took up all the subjects in the nursing curriculum that is approved by CHED. I think there will be no problem. The approval rely on how you present your credentials. There are some schools who let other nurses graduate without really attending their classess. This is the reality. Unfortunately, those who studied hard and didn't do any "monkey bussiness" to finish nursing got affected. Goodluck to all second coursers!

Sad to say, I could not pass the writing in IELTS even if I got 8 in all the other tasks. Have more than 3 yrs. experience..Had been to Saudi Arabia as a nurse
I have three friends who were denied on the assessment approval. They had paid the assessment and all. I got two friends though who were not approved but are also second coursers.
So, I think LUCK plays a part here. Now, I donnot have an agency if I have to continue in NZ. I have a friend in New Zealand who has a business in looking for a job for the nurses who passed the assessment. She looks for the place where you stay as you study and she helps you look for a nursing home or a hospital, after the CAP. You just need to pay her for the efforts done. aaan it does not add up to 100,000
If you cannot pass the IELTS and you cannot pass the assessment, you may still go through an agency that makes you spend at least 400,000 and go to NZ as a health Aide.
Then you can look for other jobs.
I think New Zealand are now accepting 7 for each band even if you were able to get it from more than one exam. What I am saying is that you just need to retake IELTS, even if you will get zero in all other subtests and get 7 in writing (which is your only problem now), you will still be qualified to apply.
Being a second courser is not an issue, for as long as you have really taken nursing from a reputable school, not from "other" schools that offer "crash course" nursing degree. I am also a dentist, got denied last june 3, appealed my case, now I am approved. You just have to present your credentials properly. You have to convince the council that you finished a true nursing degree, not just some hanky panky nursing degree from a school that just sprouted out from nowhere. | | No. 156 |

Why do you feel that your fellow nurses are so needy that they need to be met at the airport and familiarized as if they are travelling minors?
People have migrated all over the world without welcoming parties waiting for them at the other end. I remember when my family moved to NA. We just arrived. Up to my parents to find housing, schools, etc.
Colleges and Universities and employers who are bring in groups of workers arrange "welcome" days at their sites. Schools arrange all sorts of meet and greet type functions with tours of the campus, labs, and usually free meals added in as an incentive to attend. Orientation at a new facility is all about touring the place and learning how it works. My employer arranged for the arrival of a batch of nurses, paid their fares, arranged their temporary housing, cash resettlment allowance, etc.
If someone is intelligent enough to make it through nursing school, they should be able to arrange for a taxi from the airport to a place to stay for the night.
It just sounds that dependency is being fostered on some nurses in an effort to run a small, profitable business.

Re: To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
The above posters are correct. Agencies are not really needed for such applications. The council and the CAP providers are very accommodating and you just need to follow up through emails and they will respond to you asap.
Airport Pick-up services are usually offered by your CAP provider and you just need to pay them a small fee for it so don't worry too much about it. Also, most Unis who provide CAP or even some hospitals offer accommodation or would at least help you find one. If you go there to do CAP, "tours" wouldn't be your priority anyway right? But you can always go with your fellow CAP students to go around the area.
Just a note: If the person really just wanted to HELP, then why would the person want to charge others with a nominal fee? That's not called helping, that's paid services IMHO... it would just be comparable to a small time business or you can put it like a pseudo agency.

To Barbie or Anybody here:
Do you or anyone understand the new IELTS/English policy of NCNZ whereby applications starting Jan. 01, 2009, the applicant must "take an English examination registered in New Zealand"?? That's how it was written in their website. I donno if it means you will take the test when you are already in NZ or during the CAP training or whatever.. In this case, its an additional english requirement on top of the existing IELTS requirements.
