i'm really confused. some people say that it's ok not to have any hospital experience to apply for registration while others say that hospital experience is required by the council. i have just downloaded the application form and there's this part about the applicant's character reference (professional) that is supposed to be mailed to the council by the senior nurse at the applican't current place of employment. if the applicant doesn't have any experience, then who is supposed to answer that part of the application? this is really confusing

the best thing to do is to email the nursing council directly...They are in the best position to tell you if you really need to have the one year work experience to be able to register. They have an email address at their website.

You need at least one year experience before they will approve your application!

yes its true. experience upon registration is not prerequisite but the challenge test itself is quite expensive esp the test B, wherein you have to fly directly to Queensland to take the clinical assessment test. you also need a bandscore of 7 in ielts and all the tests (a&b) are good for one take only. If you fail in A, you wont proceed with B and you have to take the study module. there are 4 modules in the study program and costs $850/ea. here are the breakdown of the fees upon registration.

application- 151AUD
competency assessment A- 245AUD (available in all countries worldwide)
c.a. test B- 475AUD (available in Queensland only)
license - 90AUD

total: 961AUD or 40,700PHP.

that excludes review materials, airfare (around 30K +-), application of visa, accomodation, food and pocket money for the whole trip so still i consider it too expensive for me.

i think its around 100k for the whole process (not sure )

a bit stressful shelling out such amount and even more stressful if you wont make it on the first shot. anyway its up for you to decide. Try and try until you suceed. Goodluck to everyone!

I think the point here is which ever is the fastest way out of Philly is the best way. Ok, the topic here is nurses for New Zealand, isnt it also expensive with the NZ nursing modules + airfare + review materials + etc +etc? ---US? Passed the Nclex!Hmmm! but can you beat the long LINE?

What Im saying is, to avoid the modules or course study there is an option to take the challenge test and avoid all the hassle of study.Right? Provided that you are confident with your nursing skills- But if you know of a better way ---please lead! thanks..

Honestly getting out of the Phils is very challenging. one must atleast have the money or the experience. if you dont have any of this, chances would be really slim.

In my opinion applying on bridging programs or like that of Queensland is something you should really decide on first because shelling such amount is no joke. If you are really keen on pursuing it and you have atleast 100k minimum to spend, then go for it. Otherwise, dont even bother. Just imagine how hard it is to focus on your review everytime you think about all the pressure on your head. "i must pass the exam/finish the course, or else goodbye hundred thousand." whoa that's torture!

I would suggest rather than choosing the faster yet more expensive and stressful route, you can opt to research more on agencies that cater nurses w/o work experience to work in the middle east (saudi, kuwait, dubai, egypt). I heard there are some who were able to work there w/o work exp esp Saudi Arabia. just working in these countries for 2yrs can actually give you passes to different countries worldwide including Canada, Ireland, UK and Australia. all these can happen without spending any cent....

just my worth--

Sorry i know its out of topic already. my apologies.

im not sure if you refer to NZ or AU. With NZ i dont have any idea but with AU im afraid they do not sponsor applicants. everything is shouldered by the test-taker.
