Whether or not you need to write the exam is dependent 100% on where you attended nursing school. If you did it in Canada and not in Quebec Province, then the exam is waived for you.
If you do need to write the exam, then you must use the academic form of the IELTS and not the general form. There are only two choices and you need the academic branch to have it accepted.
Just use the search engine that we have here and put IELTS in it and you will come up with many threads on this topic as well as what to prepare for. What your skill level is in English will determine what you will need to do to prepare. You have not listed where you were born or trained, so hard to give you any real information based on your situation.
Citizenship has nothing to do with the language requirements, but schooling does 100%.
