Hi! I just passed the local boards last year in the Philippines and I would like to take the NCLEX. The state that I would really like to apply to is California but the wait is 4-6 mos. I'm thinking of passing my application to Vermont because the processing there takes about 1-2 mos. and if I pass the NCLEX, I would just have myself endorsed to California. Would anyone know if that's a good idea or would I have any problems? Or would it be better if I just apply for California instead and be patient? thank you. hope to hear advises from the experts.

I definitely would not recommend CA for initial licensure, you will not get your license until you are in the US and have had a SSN# issued to you. If for some reason that you decide to work in another state, you will have issues trying to endorse to another state, it is very easy to endorse to CA.

Plus, you will need to wait about 4 weeks to get your scores.

I am moving this to the International Forum, where it is more appropriate. It doesn't pertain to American nurses.
