do immigrants need TOEFL/IELTS/TSE?

by krave

hi! i've been reading posts here and it really helped me a lot.

Im an immigrant and was wondering before if i still need to pass local-rn exams. apparently, i don't have to, as i've read in previous posts. but anyway im still going to take it coz it's too late for me to back out.

anyway, i was wondering if immigrants have to take any english test like IELTS/TOEFL/TSE? my family is in CA. is it required before i could take nclex-RN in CA? and if ever i need it, where should i take it? here in the Phils or in CA? hope someone could help out. thanks a lot! i really appreciate those who take the time and answer! god bless!

The big issue is where you are now? Do you already have a green card? If you have one, then you will only need to take the NCLEX-RN. The language requirements are only if you need to obtain a green card, and are part of the requirement for the Visa Screen Certificate, not for licensure.

Moved this thread to the International Forum, since it deals with issues not related to American RNs working in CA.

Local exam is not required at all, and it never too late to back out. The next exam will not be for months there.
