hi guys, ive asked this question before but i really really have to be sure that i dont need to take my NLE here in the philippines to be able to get a CES (georgia) coz ill be leaving for the states pretty soon and i have to make sure, thanks guys

I am really not sure if it will work for Illinois because from what I've read in the threads, Suzanne has been repeating many times that there's no way to skip CES even by endorsement not only in Illinois but in other states as well...besides she was also discouraging people to apply by endorsement in Illinois since it takes I think more than a year before they give you a license...and my other concern is my tourist visa which is about to expire next year that is why I want to do the fastest route possible...

But Suzanne... assuming that I apply for NM and got my license there, do I send the License Validation form to New Mexico for my CES because I have 1 year from the time I applied my CES which was last March 26, 2007 to complete all reqts so that my $300 will not be put to waste. Do you think that will work?...I need to act fast...

I would not worry about your tourist visa, it is actually illegal to come to the US for the sole purpose of looking for a job and staying. You need to be in the US for at least three months to have the best chance of not being denied the AOS. And it takes five months or so to be able to work legally, most do not have the funds to do that. So pleae, do not use the thought of your tourist visa to motivate you to do anything.

Any state that you get licensed in will need to be verified for the CES, if you get it later on. Do you already have a license in NM? You have me confused.

No, I do not have a NM license...but since CGFNS is still waiting for the License Validation form to be sent to them before any credentials review can happen then perhaps i'd rather get my license from New Mexico so that an authoritative body can send the License Validation form to CGFNS instead of taking the local board in the Philippines...am not sure though if this will work. But the downside is I will be forced to take the application by endorsement route to illinois which I believe takes more time to be processed.

Right now with all of the issues that went on with the NLE last summer, I will not be surprised if CGFNS makes it mandatory for those from the Philippines to be licensed there first, even before they will now give out the CES. And because of continues problems that have occurred that we are aware of because of that exam, this is probably going to be going into effect. And probably, there is also going to be a requirement of taking the NLE to even get the Visa Screen Certificate now.

Do not be surprised if you see it become a permanent item from ICHP shortly.

ok ok.. so are you all saying were stuck? either we take the NLE (which im sure we dont want to) or nothing??? there has to be something we can do.. seriously..

You are misunderstanding what they want, you are still going to need to have the verification from PI if that is what they are asking for. The license from the US does not substitute for that. They still are going to need verification from the PRC if you attended school there.

And per my famous words that I keep repeating: Any time that you try to take a shortcut, it will always turn and bite you on the butt.

If they are requesting the verification, it does not waive it coming from the PRC, you will just need two verifications.

And I am being quite serious on this. Due to some fellow nurses from your country, and the problems that they caused with ICHP/CGFNS; more than likely CGFNS is now going to require the NLE exam be completed before they will issue the CES or anything else for someone that trained there. Not saying that it is official as of yet, but it certainly is looking that way. Why else would everyone from there now be getting a letter that they need to submit a verification form to ICHP even when they have already received the letter that you did not take the exam?

From issues that went on with the NLE last summer, to the documented cheating issues that we have all heard with the CGFNS exam, as well as the NCLEX exam, it would not surprise me at all. And may cut down on the number of new nurses that immediately come to the US to work, and work illegally. If all are required to write that exam, and it is only offered two times per year, and it also takes several months to get the license afterwards, it does make sense.

There are still nurses that are coming over to the US from your country, that expect to be able to write the NCLEX and just stay. Right now, there are no visas, and have not been any for more than 6 months, but they are still coming and staying. And quite a few are actually working illegally, just ripe to be picked up and deported by ICE. And they are doing that as well.

Suggest that all of you focus on what CGFNS wants, they are in control now of all of it. And they are needed one way or another by you.

well how about that validation from PRC that i didnt sit the NLE will that work? im might just do that coz i dont have any choice..

I would suggest that you make an e-mail inquiry to both CGFNS and to your respective State BON.

Right now, the poster kanebo has just reported that the IL State BON is allegedly requiring it. It is unsure if this for all CES reports or if the IL State BON just made a request to CGFNS that they (IL BON) would like to include the licensure from the home country, therefore just specific to their State.

I would also like to make a request that you post their response to your inquiry in this thread.

Thanks.

CES requirements are the same for all states, they are not any different. They do not do one thing for those that are wishing it for one state, and something different for another. The CES is just that, if Illinois wants something specific in addition to the CES, and they have made it a requirement, then they would post that on their website, and they have not. So my money is on that all from PI will have that requirement. I have also heard the same thing from a few others here that were going thru the CES process and not for IL.

my goodness... this is such a bad news.. now im too late to take my NLE coz before, everyone tells me that i dont need it, and now all the sudden bam! i need it after all!

i might just apply in cali and endorse to georgia since thru endorsment (in GA) im no longer required to have my CES (according to their website) i might just do this, coz its really too late for me to take the NLE and frankly i really dont want to..

I do not have the answers to this, but if we are seeing this being asked of other nurses from your country, and not just one person, I will not be surprised if it becomes mandatory.

I have stated over and over again, that you are always responsible for getting the final information from the source, and this has just been happening the past few weeks. This is something very new, not sure if it just one worker at CGFNS that has requested this material, or what?

But if it gets required for the CES, it may start getting required for the VSC as well. Especially because of all of the issues that have gone on with false information that was given to CGFNS by some of the nurses from your country after the NLE issues last summer.

It is not official, but I can easily see it happening. And things are always changing, they are not required to stay the same. And you will probably start seeing 3 year contracts coming up when the retrogression ends, as the cost of immigration is jumping up considerably on June 01.

Just sent an e-mail to CGFNS and will post their response as soon as I get it. Always best to go directly to the source.
