discrepancy in name

HELP!!
I am so anxious! What should I do?
I have already filed my application for NCLEX RN and just waiting for my elegibility to take the test.
There is a discrepancy in my name in my passport. I asked the department of foreign affairs on how to change it and they said since I will be renewing it, I will be having no problem.

But now heres my major problem-- I still have 3 valid visas in it and one of it is my US visa.
If I will have my passport changed -- I might lose or apply for new ones!
Do you have any idea if I could just present my birth certificate, national ID or something together with my passport (refering that I am the same person) so I could take my NCLEX ?

**Please .. I really need your help. thanks.

You will not loose your visa if you get a new passport, just carry old one as well as new one.

Be aware that you are not applying for NCLEX but licensure to be a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process. Also being caught up in retrogression you are looking at several years before you will be able to work in the US

what do you mean descrepancy? in the passport? so what name are you following now? is it different from the birthcertificate? how about in your school record? your name in your eligbility? if so, you change your name so im sure youll looe your visa since you also have to make it correct and i think the US emabssy will let you go again the starting process.

If you have have an expired passport with a valid visa, then there's no problem if you're going to US, just show the new passport with the old one(I did it once). But, for some countries, you need to have the visa transfered from the old passport to the new one. I haven't encountered with someone like your situation but in my opinion, you have to contact the concerned embassy since having a corrected name in a new passport would mean another person and of course, different identity. Might as well ask the consul.

Recommend that you take the new passport when you receive it, along with the old passport and visa to the US Embassy for them to take care of.

The name in the passport needs to match the name on the roster for the NCLEX exam, they do not make exceptions to the rule. They are not permitted to let you enter if the name is not identical for the first and last names.

hi leiza,

i also have the same problem. i have a valid passport and a newly issued US tourist visa with the name that I have been using as a child and during my first course in college. However, just recently my nursing school asked for an original NSO birth certificate (required for graduation and local board) and I discovered that I have been using the wrong name the whole time (angel insteard of angelea), and since NSO birth certificates weren't required before when applying for a passport, my name there as well on my US visa is not the correct name. my nursing school used my correct name for the diploma and TOR, so I had to use the same for my CGFNS and NCLEX application.

now that i saw ur post, im also feeling anxious already. can u tell me how you were able to solve it? would appreaciate any inputs you can share. thanks!
