per texas state board of nursing

"an applicant educated outside the united states must provide the board with an original credential evaluation service (ces) course-by course report prior to being approved to take the nclex examination. the documentation must be sent directly from the approved ces organization. the board accepts the ces from the commission on graduates of foreign nursing schools (cgfns), the educational records evaluation service, inc. (eres) or the international education research foundation, inc. (ierf). you may access this service by going to one of the following websites: www.cgfns.org, www.eres.com or www.ierf.org."

which one is best or easiest to deal with?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Would recommend the full course as many require it if going for further education once in the US. Makes no difference in the 2 on which is the easiest

I was actually looking for which CES company of the three is best to use?

Good or Bad opinions on them.

Or should I just use the one which is cheapest?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Don't use the one that is the cheapest. I would recommend CGFNS as all states will accept them and if looking at further continual education then usually CES is required. At the end of the day it is your choice but some states will not accept any but CGFNS

Don't use the one that is the cheapest.
Is there a reason not to use the cheapeast? I have not compared priced any yet, but they all seem to be about same price.

But some states will not accept any but CGFNS

But Texas will accept the following (3) CES only:

Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS)

Educational Records Evaluation Service, Inc. (ERES)

International Education Research Foundation, Inc. (IERF).

Specializes in CTICU.

As Silverdragon says, the cheapest one is probably not the one by the CGFNS company.

However, most (if not all) states DO accept CES reports from CGFNS but may NOT accept from the others (IERF, ERES). In the future, if you go to school or change states, you may need the one by CGFNS.

What silverdragon is trying to say is that when down the road you want to endorse to another State for licensure or go for further education within your state or another state, not all may accept the other two companies you mentioned. That is why the choice would be CGFN's CES so that there could be portability down the road. Texas BON may accept credential evaluation from the other 2 companies but you wouldn't know if you will be endorsing to other States in the future as well w/c may not accept evaluation reports from the other 2.

And if you take the time to do some reading on this forum, you will see that many have posted about usins another company and later on wishing to move and then finding out that their new state requires the CES, but does not accept it from one of the other companies that they have used.

All that require the CES, will accept the one from CGFNS, but not all of them accept them from the smaller companies. So you can end up paying much more in the end. Easier to get it done where it will be accepted all over to begin with, and with the full course study in case she ever decides to go on with her education.

There has already been much discussion on this very same topic on this forum.
