Moved to the International forum

CGFNS is accepted by all states and usually required if looking at further education in the US later. Also can use documents for VSC

Also, chances are that you may want to endorse to another State down the road and only CGFNS' services are universally accepted by all States.

You may actually end up paying more if you have to go through CGFNS anyway if the State you would endorse to only accepts a credential evaluation coming from them. And of course, you have to do it from scratch as well if that would be your first time to go through them.

So, unless you plan to actually work and live in the State you are planning to apply now for the rest of your life you would be better off going through CGFNS from the start.

You are applying for licensure, there is no way to apply for the NCLEX exam.

I agree with what Lawrence has told you, just because you have a choice of several companies at this time, it does not mean that those same companies are accepted by all other states that require a credentials review. And if you decide at a later time to go to grad school, all accept the CES, but they do not all accept the others.

Hi Suzanne,
when my school of nursing send my transcripts and the nmc send validation of my registation/licence to cgfns, once they have been evaluated do cgfns send my documents to the bon or do they send them back to me?

Am I responsible for submitting all required documentation to the baord of nursing as one compleat packet? or do documents arrive to the bon at varieing stages.

kind regards

CGFNS does not return anything to you that was sent to them and they do not forward anything on to a BON.

CGFNS will send a copy of the CES to the BON, but nothing else.

All should arrive at the BON around the same time, but be aware that no state will do anything with an application if payment has not been recieved for it.

We have lately seen quite a few that had everything sent in, except for payment, and then were upset to find out months later that the BON no longer kept their file. Without payment, they are not legally bound to do anything.

And not all can arrive from you. Licensing board documentation and transcripts should be sent by the respective authority. You need to send only the application as well as the payment.

Hi Suzanne,
sorry for not understanding all the bureaucracy, but I am still extremely confused.

This morning I received my fingerprint cards from the BON, the accompanying letter stated by the BON said........

"Applications which do not include all information needed for licensure, including educational/transcript evaluation, will be considered incomplete and returned. We will not accept applications that do not include all information"

As you said Suzanne, CGFNS will send a copy of the CES to the BON. So do I only submit the application to the BON with correct fees or do I wait for a copy of the evaluated transcript from CGFNS before sending my application.

Kind regards

Go ahead and send the application to the BON along with the fingerprints, they will not look at your application until they have payment in full for it.

Which state are you actually applying to?

They do not send you your transcripts back, they keep whatever you sent to them. CES usually takes anywhere from four to eight weeks, so you can plan accordingly. But if you think that there may be an issue with your training, you may wish to wait to send in the application to the BON.
Once paid, they do not refund it.

Hi Suzanne,
I will send my application, if anything is not right I am sure they will let me know.

It is the Board Of New Mexico that I am applying to.

I am sure my transcripts will be fine, NM evaluated them last year and they where fine. I know it is the evaluation agency that do it now and so I know it will be up to CGFNS to pass it.

Thank you Suzanne

NM has just revised their instructions for foreign credentials effective Feb 1. 2008. It is stated there that they want the CES report as part of the application already and will return it if the application is lacking anything. That is why you received that note as well. Ordinarily, an applicant can send the application forms first and then the transcripts and/or Credentials Evaluation later on but NM just set their new policy on it.

Kindly search a thread here I posted regarding the new instructions from NM and double check on it.
