Pretty in pink,

The local board is exam, of course, leads to local licensure. The question whether to sit for it depends on your objectives. If you are aiming for CGFNS Certification, then local licensure is a prerequisite for taking that Certification exam. That being said, the necessity of having local licensure or CGFNS Certification depends on the requirements set by each individual state board of Nursing. Many BON's now do NOT require the CGFNS Certificate but would need the CGFNS Credentials Evaluation Service...See www.cgfns.org and the official website of the state board where you intend to practice for specifics. Furthermore, many of these board requirements actually factor in on shaping the direction of which exams to sit for, etc.

See the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website for the official webpages for its member state boards.

Hope this helps

Default Would America accept UK RGN Diploma?
Hi, I am originally Filipino but now a resident of England UK. I did my nurse training (diploma) here and qualified last year. I am right now a permanent staff in a government hospital. I just want to know if a diploma nursing graduate like me would be eligible to work in America. I heard that they only consider and accept a Bachelor degree. Though I will be doing my degree in due time. Thank you.

Welcome

It all depends on how long your training was. Best way to find out is get full course CES with CGFNS and if you do not meet requirements it will tell you so and where you fall short. Be aware through of retrogression and long wait currently to go through the process

As Anna mentioned above, best to get your credentials evaluated by CGFNS with the CES. The US requires clinical and theory hours in peds and maternal health, not sure if you had those.

The US requires what ever is the first level training in the country where you did your training. If the training was done in the Philippines, then there would have to be the BSN as that is all that they accept for licensure.
