Is there a high chance to get a nursing job in Australia after the bridging? Anyone knows what region or place in Australia still has a high demand for nurses? Thanks.. I am scared to waste my hard earned money..

Just received an email from the CEO that I work in at Victoria saying that due to the state government cutting the hospital budget they will be putting a freeze on new employments (except in desperate circumstances). There answer? Close beds! I work in women's and children services & we will be kicking new mothers out early with follow up community care.

hi, i'm new here. i'm a nurse here in the philippines with only one year hospital experience which was almost 3 years ago. I already received my LOE from AHPRA last june but i am having a hard time looking for a school which will accommodate me. i tried ihna and i think they accept students even with less than two yrs of experience as long as you pass the interview (hoping to pass the interview, fingers crossed). sometimes, i am already feeling hopeless and same with your concerns worried if i'd be able to find a job there.
They require 2 years experience..me too im hopeless..i have my offer letter already but my agency kept IHNA on hold because they're accreditation is only approved with certain conditions.. So stressed out with this process.. I wished i didnt took up nursing in my college days..if only i knew..

certain conditions like what? how was the interview? lucky you, you already have an offer letter and experience is not a problem.. my friend already got a slot for march intake..

Hello everyone,

I got an offer of employment on the last day of 2012. Thank God! The employer is willing to have my 457 visa arranged even if I am 'offshore'. Mind you, it was really difficult looking for a job. As I've said before, Australian employers place residents and citizens on their priority list during the job hiring. They would consider interviewing offshore applicants, but then again, with the recent changes in the 457 visa standards, offshore applicants are placed way down in the priority list. There are still jobs out there, but you know, employers are not as open in recruiting offshore applicants/applicants without working visas as before.

hi everyone!

Would my 3 years ongoing work experience as a CCU (coronary care unit) nurse make a difference or enhance my chances of getting a job after a bridging course? thanks!

Having 3+ years of experience in a specialty unit will indeed give you an edge over other applicants.

my cousin's lucky i guess. she started her BP around january 2012. now, she is reaping the benefits. i hope you will be able to find an employer there

it would be very difficult to find employment if you have very little nursing experience. some agencies require at least 2-3 years experience before they consider you for an interview. but i also know someone who doesn't have any experience, studied 1 year conversion program here in Australia, and was offered a job by the school's affiliated hospital.
